I somehow thought these were the same thing and glossed over it any time it was mentioned.
    They're not the same?!

Itís not really anime at all though, just the intro video, really. Itís very French, apart from that. See that smoking pig idle animation. :)

Itís an unofficial wonder boy sequel. Nothing archaic about it, though. Very modern, very fair.

Doing pretty well in my 4th run, 3 islands complete, full power grid so far and came across three pods and 3 reactor cores so laughing for upgrades.

Still find this squad plays very differently from the starter squad, often i dont kill a lot of baddies, just move them around

The pull / shield mech i find a bit weak, but the laser and slam mech are decent.

Best way to play is to move the baddies around and have them just kill each other :)

But yeah, the squads pretty much all play very differently from each other. I can breeze through the campaign with some squads, and really struggle with others. You can even mix and match squads, so there's a lot of depth/potential playtime in the game if you really get into (Danielle Riendeau from Waypoint talks about the game a lot, I think she said she's put over 1000 hours into it!).

Haha same here :D I bought Wonder Boy and didn't like it at all, was wondering why everything was raving about it! I'll take a look at Monster Boy.

Wonder Boy was a very good remake of the original, but it's still an 80s game underneath. So if you've never played the original then you might find it a bit frustrating and archaic. It's still one of the best-looking 2D games on the Switch, though.

Monster Boy also looks very good, but I'm not sure if I'm quite ready to pay £30+ for another Metroidvania after I recently spent £8 on arguably the greatest 2D Metroidvania ever. :p

No, but "arguably the second best Metroidvania ever" wouldn't have had quite the same effect I reckon.

I really enjoyed Monster Boy. Thinking about it, I'd actually say it was one of my top 5 games of last year.

Well, I guess that's the game "complete" now so you can delete it and move on. :)

Yes, do that. They play very differently.

And most of the cheevos in the game aren't that hard to get. You can unlock all the squads pretty easily.

I think I did all the challenges with first set of mechs but never played with the others. I should really go back and dabble.

This year is currently fairly lacklustre on confirmed games I want to play. So there might be an opportunity do return.

There are quite a lot of upcoming games without release dates that are appealing though.

Couple of dates out for some of the FF releases, with X/X-2 coming on April 16th and XII on the 30th. These are US dates, but I imagine they'll be the same (and if not, it'll be thereabouts).

I am just a sucker for pictures so when I didn't see any I assumed it wasn't posted.

Itís OK Farley. Rorís been letting the side down with sub-standard updates for years. Good to have someone running a tight ship for a change.

I learned my lesson when I put effort in (including images, links and everything!) when I made a thread for Tales of Berseria and someone else beat me by a handful of seconds because they didn't put any effort in at all.

Anyway, I'm definitely not still bitter, and the lesson, obviously, is 'never try'.

I was given Persona 5 at Christmas - itíll probably be announced and/or released for Switch by the time I start playing it!

Iím hoping that Wargroove will be as good as it looks.

@THFourteen yeah Iím cautiously excited about wargroove. Iíd prefer a mainline intelligent systems advance wars but if we have to settle for this, Iíll give it a go
