They should have gone with Lite Switch though as Larry Bundy Jr pointed out.

The boy keeps asking to play Nintendo and gets upset when I take my Switch to work to play on my commute. If the price is right in the UK, I may well grab this for him. He becomes a nightmare when it's time to stop playing though so...maybe not such a great idea.

Switch Lite had been dropped then. I'm on the fence as I couldn't tell you the last time I used my Switch on the TV, it's a handheld for me. The inclusion of a dpad is nice, but worth offload8ng my current Switch for? Probably not.
Ever since i connected my dock to my monitor as opposed to the TV i find actually i DO use it docked a lot more than i used to.

I'm probably 99% docked now, played a bit more undocked for the novelty value in the first year but hardly ever now. Might even be 100% docked this year come to think of it, can't remember the last time I took it out. I'm sitting and waiting patiently for the rumoured Pro version.

Iíd probably upgrade to a Pro version, mostly because I can.
No interest in a Lite tho - Iím docked the vast majority of the time but I do travel home with and itís really handy to have when Iím living at my mums for those weeks.

The fragility of the joy con analogue sticks makes me extremely wary of any product that has them irreplaceably attached...

For a handheld only device I think some design changes would have been a good idea.

I find the switch hard going for long periods of play. They make such fantastic controllers it would have been good to see that ergonomic thinking applied to a handheld. Even if it was just the button layout.

My Switch is pretty much entirely portable. So the Lite would have worked for me however I am not buying one as I already have a Switch. (Have a grip for it which works really well).

Launching the Lite to coincide with a new Pokťmon is really smart. The number of kids that are going to ask for a Switch Lite for Christmas is going to be ludicrous.

Eh? It's $199.99 and £199.99. Sounds fair, I mean there isn't any difference what so ever in the currency's so let's just switch the sign. Bingo, no one will notice.

I assume it is still impossible to play outside on holiday etc due to screen glare? If they invested in that I would buy it, but it isnít going to happen.

The had a solution in places for the 3DS XL. That worked quite well. Hopefully they've got something, but who knows. They're not boasting about it if they have.

    @The_Goon

The parental controls app is your friend.

You can restrict time played remotely and also have a set time where all games can be suspended (for example set an hour before bathtime to allow room for other activities/family time).

My son was a nightmare for the first couple of weeks but routine has set in now.

    $199.99 plus 20% VAT = 191 quid, not exactly a huge hike.

@PrivateFloyd Hmmm. Good shout. I'd forgotten about that. Not sure how much of a difference it will really make though!

In America they have the equivalent of vat. It can differ depending on state but it's often about 10% so as always we still get a bit shafted by Nintendo.

Is the comparator not $199.99 plus the equivalent sales tax over there? As I understand, it's roughly 10% across the various States so they're expecting to pay c.$220/£175 vs our £199 (incl VAT). Difference of around £15 is not entirely insignificant. Or have I got it all wrong and the $199 include sales tax over there?

Then again these kinds of comparisons don't always make work on the small scale - you really need to look at the prices as a percentage of average earnings/disposable income to see whether they are truly comparable.

I think they missed a step by not making it a little more ergonomic. I sometimes use the ORZLY grip because it's just not that comfortable for long term use.

I loved all of the previous ones, both Avengers and X-Men. Quality dungeony brawlers with great characters and powers. Will be getting this one, day one.

Remember Nintendo are banned from setting RRPs in Europe. So final price is at the discretion of the retailers.
