Went for Civ VI (and its expensive expansions) in the sale. Cheaper than on Steam for the moment at least, and I'm massively more likely to play it handheld. While I've played a lot of it over the years I thought I'd start with the tutorial. I'm paying a lot more attention due to it being in handheld and literally right in front of my face than I would usually do on pc. It seems to work well but I'm sure it will chug quite a bit in the late game. Still, handheld Civ is a very good thing. Get it on pc unless you reallly want to play it handheld as it will be cheaper come the steam xmas sale.
I was tossing that or Skyrim up. Went for Skyrim in the end. Just fancy aimlessly wandering around in a world but also losing myself in it. Donít tend to do that much these days. Tend to end up thinking about other games I want to buy or play, buy them and do the same :|

Play it, it's quite entertaining if somewhat janky. I got 50 hours out of it and completed the main quest and dabbled in other stuff. The combat is pretty shonky though.

@rice_sandwich Keep us posted on Civ. I've been keeping an eye on it since release. I've never played one and need something strategy wise to fill the void I've had since playing Anno on Wii many years ago.

I would rather own it physically, but I have 20 quid of unspent eShop credit to put towards a digital copy, so it makes sense to use that.

Has anybody played Northguard? That's only 15 quid at the moment and I've had my other eye on that.

Does the combat really spoil the game?

No, it's just mediocre in comparison to other games. I wouldn't let it put you off at all. You will definitely get tired of draugrs in every tomb. Stool, it has a very good atmosphere and sense of exploration.

It's Civ on the Switch basically, no different from the pc version. Graphics look good and it handles well. Frame rate is irrelevant as it's turn based, though it seems to be fine. It's like playing a giant board game. The expansions, while quite expensive, appear to add a huge amount of content to the base game.

The main thing to ask is do you see yourself spending perhaps 5 to 10 hours per campaign and does managing a large empire on a small screen with console controls (but touch screen too) sound annoying? Also the game is bound to slow down near the end and turns could take a few minutes to process.

And how likely are you to play the included scenarios, try different civs and go for the various victory avenues (science, military, culture etc.) It's not worth it if you're only going to play a couple of campaigns. As it's turn based you could pick it up and play a few turns here and there over the course of a whole day.

@DangerousDave_87 I put 40 hours into CIV. when it was released, it was really fucking good. I was hoping it would be £20-£25 for the expansions but I will probably pick it up throughout the month.

    Itís really good.

Still undecided with what to do with remaining credit. Actually looking at Mudrunner now for something *completely* different...

Children of morta seems like it could be a lot of fun. I did a few runs, itís not the easiest to begin with but as character levels and money are kept between runs, I imagine it will get easier the more I play.

No, but I've read it's about 5 to 8 hours long which may or may not bother you given the relatively high asking price.

I looked at Lapis x Labyrinth when it got released and now it's 50% in the sale I'm finding it hard to resist. Read any number of reviews about it and just wondered if anyone here had put any time in to it? I can always do with more mindless NIS dungeon-crawling in my life.

Bit late here but Civ on Switch is really, really good; think my playtime is currently 120 hours. It does eventually start to chug, but it's never been enough to spoil the game for me. Bought the expansions over the weekend and really enjoying them so far.

Nevermind, found it by going through the console.

That's tempting. As there's no cross play it should be a level playing field with other Switch players...
