Heave-ho was the absolute winner in our family this Christmas, I took our Switch to the annual Boxing Day family gathering and everyone had a blast with it from 7 to 70! Absolutely hilarious especially with 4 players :) Now I'm working through it properly with my little boy (7), it's hilarious, challenging and rewarding all wrapped in a bundle of fun.

Just sent my Switch off to Nintendo to be fixed, so I am Switchless for a couple of weeks :( Right before Tokyo Mirage Sessions comes out, as well.

In live chat they told me it'll either cost ~£50 or ~£150 :| Fingers crossed for the lower amount.

If it's £150 get them to send the fucker back, bang it on eBay and get a light.

Accidentally damaged the game card slot. I was going to fix it myself, ordered a replacement part on ebay, but the seller started messing me around and it looked like all the sellers were probably sourcing from the same place, so I got on Nintendo live chat instead.

If it's £150 I'll get them to send it back and try and get the replacement part again.

@Ror ouch. How did you manage that? Something we (Switch owners) need to be aware of or something silly on your part?

I finally have a Switch on order to replace the Lite, Amazon are expecting delivery in a couple of weeks.

My 5 year old loves playing Mario Bros, Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros on the Wii. The Wii Remote is pretty much perfectly sized for him.

What will we need to play those three games on the Switch together? Are Joycons enough or am I better off investing in something else? The little 8BitDo pads look interesting and a good size, I think he'd be better off staying with a d-pad than having to use an analogue stick.

You can use a single Joy Con for all 3 games you mention, so you won't have to buy anymore controllers. Having said that, they are obviously a lot smaller than the Wii remote and lack a d-pad when used singularly.

I've played Mario Kart 8 that way and to be honest, it played fine. I can't imagine New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe being an issue either. However, Smash Bros might prove a tad frustrating with just one Joy Con.

@One_Vurfed_Gwrx Just be aware not to be a silly sod :)

I was visiting family over Christmas and a few people wanted to try out the Switch. It got a bit fingerprinty, so when I got home, I gave it a wipe down with some wet wipes. Somehow, some fibres seemed to have come off and got stuck in the card slot (I honestly have no f'in idea how). I tried to ease them out, but a couple of the pins got bent.

Anyone able to advise if GRIP is worth the £8 or so itís on offer for? I gather performance was ropey on release but howís it fare nowadays? I do love a bit of arcade racing.

Desperately trying to resist the sales. Plenty on the US store to tempt me; I never did play much of Black Flag and that's now sub $30 (though no doubt I could grab it on PS4 for around a fiver). Wish Nintendo would do King me about the number of games in my wishlist up for sale ;-)

Still playing Slay the Spire, my GOTY for 2019, and continuing with The Trials and Tribulations of the Bergsons (a.k.a Children of Morta) - had me close to tears for very personal reasons.

Grandma Margaret died - we lost my mum (my daughters' grandma natch) Margaret a few years back.

How do I buy stuff from the american store? Do the golden coins still apply etc and will it all show on the same home screen on my profile?

@damagedinc I've got separate UK and US accounts, both of these are profiles on the same Switch. When I launch the store, depending on which account I select will depend on whether I'm in UK or US sales. I pick up USD credit from PC game supply to avoid foreign currency fees on my credit card.

@Murbs the Nintendo eShop US credit on pcgamesupply says itís only for 3DS and Wii U. Does it actually work on the Switch shop, or am I looking in the wrong place?

Just bought Grim Fandango remaster for £2.67 seeing as I've never played it. It seems rude not to at that price.

@HairyArse Another game I've been eyeballing. The same folk who did Day of the Tentacle, right? I loved that.

If you click on it and read through, it mentions it's usable on Switch too. I've definitely bought those multiple times.

Some games from small publishers seem to have this problem (I have encountered it with a few, but not all Limited Run Games games). It is a weird system, some US games register fine on UK account, some don't. My one Japanese game doesn't register on either UK or US account. Assuming you mean the register for gold coins things.

So whatís the consensus on the Lite? I thought I had settled on a full fat Switch for the boy but he suggested a Lite to my wife. He added that it was much cheaper though which leads me to think he was maybe just trying to convince her to get him anything (ie Lite is better than no Switch at all).

In fairness, Iíve noticed he plays a lot in handheld mode even if the TV is free but I canít help but feel the added flexibility of the full fat is the way to go.

I have one. It's cheaper, lighter, slightly smaller, and has better battery life. If you don't really care that much about docked mode (I don't), then it's not a bad choice.

ďNot a bad choiceĒ sounds like damning with faint praise tbh (as someone considering a Lite who also never plays in docked mode).

Well, I like mine a lot. It's a better handheld, at the cost of flexibility.

So I wasn't intentionally trying to shit on it. :p

I love mine and it really is excellent to travel around with, only reason I'm replacing it is because the boy has got really into the Wii, so it makes sense to run one system and play the same games together.

It does limit games a bit, some of the motion controlled shrines in Zelda BotW are infuriating and I've actually found Mario Odyssey quite lacking as it seems made for the Joycon. Ditto games like Mario Party obviously.

As an aside, going back to my controller query, any thoughts on the 8bitdo N30 Pro 2? The form factor looks ideal for my 5 year old who is used to the Wii remote sideways and hasn't really grasped analogies sticks.

I just value your opinion dude :) Iíd like one as my OG Switch is definitely a handheld machine anyway. Canít justify it though, especially as Iíll probably jump in with one of the new big consoles this autumn.
