Yeah, and I'd put money on BotW2 launching alongside the revised model.

It won't be replaced, but as I've said before Nvidia are ceasing production of the Tegra X1. This means Nintendo are going *have to* move over to an X2 at the very least, which is quite a bit faster than the X1. Nintendo may have wanted to wait, but they literally don't have a choice in the matter.

Edit: The 'new' switch will almost certainly be exactly the same as the old one but with an X2 doing the work and an OLED display, I think. It certainly won't be a Switch 2.

I've had mine since release so I'd be happy to update it. Definitely noticing worse battery life which is to be expected.

Yep - don't particularly fancy my chances of getting one but I'd take an updated switch at this point. Hearing all sorts of unhealthy sounding fan noises, joy cons drifting left, right and centre, battery starting to go etc on my launch day unit at this stage.

I'm not expecting more than a modest update but I'm interested to see what Nintendo has planned.

If I had to guess I'd say they'll do what they did with the 3DS and release the 'New Switch' alongside the old one for maybe 50 quid more (or maybe release it for current RRP and drop the price of the X1 model, maybe? Hah, who am I kidding?!). They'll sell the old one until the stock of X1s dries up then it'll just quietly disappear from the shelves.

It's just a guess, but it would line up with what they've done in the past in this situation.

I dont expect much of a leap at all. It'll likely have the same form factor (to support existing joy con) and at best will do some upscaling rather than a significant performance boost. Still, I'll likely upgrade if the price doesnt go up. I still use my Switch far more than anything else.

Yeah, I'd expect any sort of docked 4k to be upscaled, rather than rendered natively. That way it won't require Devs to modify their games for the new hardware.

Edit: I'd expect the two most prominent upgrades to be better battery life thanks to the OLED display and better overall performance in handheld mode. Anything else would be a bonus, really.

I expect a very modest upgrade with a slightly different form factor / other very minimal changes. I don't think I will be upgrading as I'm happy with my original Switch. I might think about it resulted in better framerates.

Never use my Switch in handheld mode and I'm still rocking a 42" Panasonic 720p Plasma so I'll be quite glad to pass this upgrade by.

If you know you want one on launch then preorder as soon as they go live. I and my mates preordered Series X and PS5 immediately and we all got what we wanted on launch day, no fuss. Only the Johnny come latelys are fucking around with stockinformer et al so save yourself the bother!

Interesting if the long-rumoured 'Pro' actually turns out to be real.

While I expect any upgrade to be modest, if they deliver a bigger 1080p screen, an uplift in performance and BotW2 then I can see myself buying one in the Autumn...

As someone who has 4 different 3DSs, a og switch and a lite... I can see myself buying one even if they just put a pokemon sticker on it.

I'd be expecting a slight bump to the screen, and either higher native res both docked and portable, or some form of AI upscaling. Battery either to be longer lasting or lighter (not that I find the Switch overly heavy as it is). Wonder if they will refresh both the standard and lite.

Sure I will get one, Switch get's a lot of love in this house. Got the original launch day unit then got a lite for the kids to share in lockdown 1 when they were at their mums a lot more. So it'll be the new one for the living room and then the kids can have one each.

The Bloomberg rumours said it'll still be a 720p screen, which is fine tbh. 1080p would be even more taxing graphically and to the battery life. A bigger screen and OLED panel would be a nice little upgrade on its own.

The more I read your opinions and the leaks, I'm not sure thing new yoke really justifies a "Pro" label. It doesn't feel like it's gonna be the mid-gen update like One X or the PS4 Pro was. More akin to the sort of update the DS console got.

The joy con drift on my Switch got too annoying (someone at Squenix thought that moving the LS in any direction to advance dialog text in DQXI was a good idea... Argh!), so I ordered one of these Joy Con replacement kit
Reviews of these kits seem good.

I've done a number of joycon stick replacements, both for myself and other people. Only takes a few minutes. Just remember to recalibrate your sticks afterwards.

So if E3 is June 12, we should be hearing about new Switch in less than two weeks?

Yes, it doesn't look too difficult. I replaced the shell of a Nintendo DS once (cracked hinge), this looks easier. Plus now there's Youtube - there are videos for nearly anything you want to take apart (and put together again :))
