I usually pimp the Silent Hill soundtracks. Although that's probably not the kind of 'chill' you were looking for. :-)

While we're talking soundtracks... anyone know where I can grab a copy of the excellent menu music from Metroid Prime? Been looking for ages, can't find it.

The PS2 Ecco game (I'm assuming the Dreamcast soundtrack's the same) is massively chilled for the most part. Most. Relaxing. Game. Ever.

Until you start trying to actually finish the levels rather than just doing fun dolphiny things, of course.

ICO, can't get more chilled than that! ;P

God Of War gets my vote for best score in a long long time, i wouldn't call it chilled out at all but it's bloody fantastic all the same!

Panzer Dragoon Orta is quite chilled mostly. Are we including retro titles too? Can't beat a bit of Secret of Mana

There's some MP MP3s availible on the Nintendo website, and I'm fairly sure the OST was availible to download somewhere a while back.

Think i got mine from suprnova, tis about 50 tracks.

Although its a bit over dramatic the Super Smash Bros Melee live orchestral soundtrack the nintendo mag gave away a year or so ago was fucking great.

That CD was great, t'is on my iPod and the odd track pops up when i have it on random, makes me smile each time.

The Zelda one they did was ok as well.

I thought the MP soundtrack had been availible for download legaly from somewhere but I've just check a few sites that I thought it might have been on and can't find it.

I might just be thinking of the ones availible on nintendo.co.uk but I'm sure it was one download and it wasn't anywhere near 50 tracks. I'll have a look when back at home as I might still have them.

    Dr. Mario
    Yoshi's Story
    Depth of Brinstar
    and the clap-along Rainbow Cruise

Incidently if I were to connect my xbox via optical cable to my minidisc player would it record properly or is it different because of the 5.1ness? Thinking about it you do need to route it through a decoder to get the 5.1 so maybe it would. Anyone tried?

    Myst series.

    Robyn M for Myst/Riven

    Jack Wall for Myst3/4

    Nice calming music, that.

Or you can rip the files from Caesar/Pharaoh and that's equally as good. Pharaoh is the best one IMO.

I've done it with my PS2 before now but can't remeber if it was a 5.1 game or not, or even if I just selected 'stereo' in the sound options before doing it. iirc it was probably one of the SSX games as you could play the tracks from a menu.

    edit: added quote.

Some very chilled moments on the Halo 3 ODST soundtrack. Half makes you want to throw down your rifle, grow a ponytail, and open a hot stone therapy spa in what's left of New Mombasa.
