| I dunno, Generally if they make something that's a bit pants they try and quietly get it out there or not show too much about it (Fantastic four is a recent example) but they seem to be going all out with this one. I'm quite optimistic about it. We'll find out soon enough either way. |

I put Green Latern in the meh category. Not a bad film but not anything super either, quite happily watch on a Saturday afternoon sort of movie.

I have to say I am in the minority who thinks Green Lantern isnt that bad. Its certainly not as horrible as some people make out. Yeah it isn't great, but it doesn't offend me or make me think that I have just wasted 2 hours of my life.
I watched Green Lantern the other day and didn't think it was all that bad. At the very least, Ryan Reynolds wasn't bad in it by any stretch, even if his character was written as a murderer - he punches at least one guy a good 20 feet through a brick wall. That guy is dead. Hal Jordan, noble killer of the people he recently caused to lose their jobs, so they no longer have to worry about finding new work. What a hero
This however is going to live or die on the jokes. I don't think it is possible for Deadpool to be meh, it will either be hilarious or so god damn awful you will hate the character forever. Still will be a different valentines if nothing else. -

I hope Stan is in the film, without any dialogue, and he gets decapitated instantly by Deadpool. I would also welcome this IRL. -

Registered 13 years agoIt'll either be refreshingly fun and a breath of fresh air, or so up its own arse and obsessed with poking fun at the genre that it comes across as obnoxious.
I'm currently on the fence. Trailers look good, but I'm worried that if that level of playing the whole thing for laughs carries through the whole movie it will be one-note and ultimately end up feeling like a sketch that outstays its welcome. Depends on the story and whether you can empathise with the lead.
The trailers have also made me a *little* worried he's been Flanderized.
One thing that does worry me is that Reynolds seems to be hinting that Deadpool is laying the groundwork for the X-Force movie.
The X-men group who no-one, ever, really gave a shit about during its initial run through the 90s (the Remender run is a separate beast entirely) and was the brainchild of possibly the most hated comic book creator in history, Rob Liefeld.
Though I guess they could make it ironic and hide every characters' feet in every shot and use CGI to bend every female character into an anatomically impossible pose, and then have characters holding guns that just float in midair while looking like they desperately need to take a laxative.
If you don't know who Rob Liefeld is, then this is a good primer for the true horror he has, and continues to inflict on comics: http://www.progressiveboink.com/2012/4/21/2960508/worst-rob-liefeld-drawings

Registered 16 years agoI don't think a group being unknown will matter in the slightest. Marvel have managed to get lots of relatively unknown properties and make profitable films with them, somehow. If Deadpool does well, X-Force is a fairly easy sell.
Also I quite like some of Rob Liefeld's art. He could probably do with looking at actual people now and then, but I certainly don't think he's a blight on the comic world like some of the usual spouters of internet negativity would have you believe. -
i only read the deadpool comics for a few years in my teens but isnt his entire comic history one big sketch with the addition of killing things.
obviously my comic knowledge isn't great but i thought deadpool was a piss take of DC's deathstroke
or was it Marvel called deadpool wade wilson after DC complained that deadpool was too similar to deathstroke :S -

Registered 8 years ago11:25am tomorrow, bring it on!
Wanted to see a later showing with friends, but they have decided to go and see it at a really inconvenient time when I cant go! The only problem is, one of my friends is the biggest blabbermouth going and has ruined countless movie/ moments.
He usually starts with "this isn't a spoiler, but watch out for the bit where...", and then pretty much goes on about the entire plot, spoiling all the best bits!
Sooooo....
I'm taking half a days holiday tomorrow so I can see it before them.
It's just a shame I can't see him before he goes, and give him a taste of his own medicine. -

That said I'm fairly sure he's a serial swiper, but at least the stuff he swiped was terrible because he stole it from someone else!

You can like his shit - there's no accounting for taste - but recognise him for the talent he has. None. -

Registered 17 years agoDidn't know anything about Deadpool until Marvel vs Capcom 2(?) and he became my favourite character in the game.
Wednesday night at 8.30 pm for me. Oh and it has two post credits sequences. Stay right to the very end if you can be arsed. Bet it's Wolverine.

Nah, I think he's an alright artist, though I certainly wouldn't claim he's factually good or bad because I know it's entirely subjective. Just because you don't like his work doesn't make him terrible in much the same way as me thinking it's alright makes it good. It's just drawings, there is no right or wrong

Besides, without him this movie wouldn't be a thing, for better or for worse (hopefully better of course).

Not a piss take. Liefield was a big fan of the DC Teen Titans stuff with Deathstroke (Slade Wilson). He decided to literally rip the character off completely and add him to the Marvel roster, and they called him Wade Wilson because they could. -
I wonder if Deadpool being more of a parody character was the initial intention the first writer (can never remember his name) or if that developed through it being the only way they'd get away with such obvious thievery?
It ended up for the best as I find Deadpool a far more interesting character. That said, I wouldn't object to some more Deathstroke in Legends of Tomorrow as I'm really enjoying so far
I think he's popped up in the Arrow-verse already so it's not entirely out of the question.
