I can see Vince Vaughn being brilliant in this, he has a weary bitter kind of humour.

I could see him playing a seasoned detective.

It kinda looks like Vaughn might not be a cop, is there a conformation that he is? Perhaps he's a main antagonist embroiled in whatever the shows central investigation will be?

This. Currently watching this, amazing show and he's great.

Looking forward to the next series of True Detective. Thing I'm most looking forward to is Vaughn, interested to see how that turns out.

Wouldn't have guessed Woody Harrelson would put in a performance like he did, so will reserve judgement this time, even with Taylor Kitsch.

I reckon Vaughn is playing a business man/antagonist type. He looks too well dressed compared to everyone else. He's really good in the right role anyway, so I reckon he'll be great.

He's a criminal kingpin brought in to help the three detectives, so yeah should be interesting to see what he does with the role.

@Armoured_Bear I love Woody Harrelson, have done for years, but what he delivered in TD was acting on a different level.

Edit: Matthew McConaughey stole the show though, sublime.

Vaughn was an excellent villain in the Starsky and Hutch reboot, at times channeling pacino's Montana, so I have faith.

Seems odd to pick on Vaughn who is a way better actor than Farrel. Vaughn will steal the show this time.

Odd mixture of trepidation and anticipation here.

I'm trying to set my expectations low, but at the same time can't help but hope I'm pleasantly surprised... which kind of means I'm failing at setting those low expectations.

First series was possibly my favourite piece of TV ever.

The first two thirds of the first series i agree with above. I felt it shat the bed somewhat in final two episodes and turned into merely very good.

Exactly. Pretty rich being wary of Vince Vaughn when McConaughey had a decade made up almost entirely of RomComs.
