Enjoyed that. Found myself legit tense for significant periods of the film.

I think they went a little over the top with the "polluted vista" visuals, but there was still some amazing cinematography in there.

I thought there were quite a dew references but then again a direct sequel, in same universe with same characters would be odd if there weren't any similarities. Not as slavish as The Force Awakens but yes, similar beats and some scenes/props/audio lifts which took me back to BR.

A digital photo scanned into an Esper can't make you cry.

Does he get to say goodbye to Chewie in this one

No he didn't. Chewie was so depressed that he'd reverted to quadruped form.

Just watched this. Really good. It's definitely on par with the original. The cinematography and sound design stood out. Fantastic.

I thought she did it deliberately and I *thought* she did it to get K to basically begin the search for Deckard on her behalf because she couldn't leave the chamber obviously. Don't think Wallace had anything to do with implanting that memory? Stelline did it subtly enough that it wouldn't be detected as an illegal memory. Although I could be missing something...

This is exactly how I saw it.

Looks like this is going to be another huge flop from US box office figures so far.

And then people complain when studios make 50 of the same film or make lazy cash-ins.

There were two walk-outs in my screening on Thursday, both with about an hour to go.

On the way out I overheard a couple say it was a complete waste of 3 hours. I guess that’s the state of cinema these days. Formulaic fare with glittering stars is what gets the crowds in. Slow paced epics with amazing cinematography is for the minority.

Just got back in from seeing it - absolutely loved it, though I did see the twist a little way out; all the boys had shaved heads, when you saw the panning shot across the orphanage, and coupled with the fact that the boy/girl had appeared in the birthday cake memory tied to bits together for me.

I did see a couple of people walk out, but the chatter I overheard as I left seemed pretty positive. Deserves to do well.

I wanted to see it in the IMAX in Manchester tonight, looked at tickets for 8pm and there were 5/6 left two hours before the show started, unfortunately it ended to late for me so i couldn't go.

Why wouldn't it bomb? It's a sequel to a movie that bombed.

A couple walked out when I saw it. They were talking all the way through and being dicks so I was pretty happy. They deserve each other, cunts.

Anyone who walks out of this at the cinema is fucking lost. They need rounding up and firing into the sun..

From what I've seen its doing good business so fuck em.

I'm going again in Monday. First time ever I've seen a film more than once at the cinema.

Also this isn't some amazing new innovation in cinema. It relies heavily on the prequel in style and a lot of it is blatant fan service.

Also couldn't stop thinking of that nerd in Archer with his holographic wife

I went with someone that hadn't seen the first film. Couple of bits lacked relevance for them, but it wasn't exactly hard for them to follow what was going on (they enjoyed it, for what it's worth).

Also, the AI hologram "sex scene" was fucking creepy.

    Yeah wasn't it?

I found a lot of the film a bit creepy tbh. I get that the objectification of women is something that could happen in a dystopian future where artificial humans and AI is apparently so cheap but everything else if broken but come on. This film had a bit of a thing for it.

    Some key observations:

1)What am utterly fantastic cyber punk future! Totally bought into every facet of this dystopian future!

    2) Harrison Ford was superb, I didn't know he could be so good! Very welcomed surprise it was.

    3) I can totally understand people not enjoying the film. The first 30-60 minutes were very slow, though for me zI found tgat the pace, intrigue and enjotment of the film ramped up from start to finish. By the end I was pretty spellbound!

It bombed in the cinema but it's done well on DVD etc for the last 30 years.

Tickets booked for IMAX on tuesday :)

This is worth a watch, especially if you're a fan of the BR soundtrack..
