| At least 19 people have been killed in the attack on a tourist hotel in Tunisia's resort of Sousse, an interior ministry official says, I think I might possibly/maybe pick Greece. |

Registered 20 years agoDefinitely Greece!
Makes me so sad, a poor country, just over the Med from Europe, with friendly and welcoming people. They should be benefitting from tourist funds, aiming to develop their economy to reach our levels.
Then religious fuckwits just screw it up. -

Registered 18 years agoMy niece is engaged to a Tunisian she met on holiday. I hope this shows her how fucked up the country could become, as she hasn't listened to date. She's not due to go out there until October anyway as she's moving to France to work, hoping he can get across there too. -

Foreign office expected to say it's too dangerous to travel there later today. Your insurance will cover you though.

Your insurance won't be interested unless the FO say it's dangerous.

My wife wanted to cancel in October when we were going, I was almost going myself. There's no way I'd go near there or any other North African country now. -

That's where we went - Army base round the corner, and there was an armed check point very near our hotel. They might even make an effort to stay awake at it now!

Registered 16 years agoSo my girlfriend and her mum are dealing with Thomson cook. Id be there myself if I wasn't working today.
Anyway, we are now going to a place in Turkey despite us still being happy to travel to Tunisia. Same days ect but they have charged £140 more. Surly they should have covered the additionally charge given its there choice to amend our holiday? -
Turkey? Safe as houses, miles away from Syria -

Registered 20 years agoI've been in the past, but now wouldn't go to Turkey either. Looking at the map, the Tenerife islands are only an inch or 2 away from Western Sahara, a hot bed for mentalists. A few energy drinks and a pedalo will get them to Gran Canaria.
There must be a good chance that these resorts breed contempt among the locals, that the militants exploit. All these seemingly rich Westerners, staying in all inclusive resorts, rarely leaving them, stuffing their faces with unlimited food and alcohol, living a lifestyle unimaginable to those who serve them and live around them. -

There's a slight danger of over worrying here. I've been to both Tunisia and Turkey and very rarely was I ever killed in a sun lounger -

Now just hold on a second - you mean to say that there's streets populated with foreigners outside the gated paradise of the resort?
