Lovely...except for the possible financial melt down and anarchy.
Definitely not going Tunisia. I want to die elsewhere.
What's the situation with Greece atm?
I think given co-pilots tendency for mass-murder, terrorism, and revolutions, your safest bet is Barry Island this year. -

I would recommend maybe avoiding Tunisia and Greece at the moment. While you are at it Syria,Iraq and Nigeria should be removed from the list.
How about a nice trip to the carabbian it is fairly hot over there, so hot in fact I don't think anyone can be bothered to care enough about anything to go on a killing spree -
Uuuh. This thread was uncanny timing....many of the dead are possibly welsh too. Not good -

Registered 7 years ago@Grax it's the budget that's in the way. Just looking for something cheap and cheerful for now as I'm going to the states later on in the year -
Well Tunisia will definitely be cheap now -

Canary Islands are still my tip. 4 hours flight, year-round agreeable weather and only one beheading in the past ten years. -

Yeah, they seem to have fairly decent weather even later in the year. The sunlight hours go down to as much as 7 hours a day, but I wouldn't mind that. -

This just isn't true.
Tunisia is a hell hole as it is, not sure why anyone would willingly go there anyway, unless their a fan of getting their women folk fondled by random strangers on the street while getting your wallet nicked and/or being spat at for showing too much skin.

Some stereotypes have a basis in reality.
( I have the misfortune of commuting by car every day and it usually gets the adrenaline going)

Registered 18 years agoWell I just arrived back from Tunisia yesterday, was staying in Mahdia which is about 25-30 miles away from Sousse.
Found it to be a lovely place with some of the nicest locals I've ever met. Yes if you wander you do have to deal with some fairly heavy hard sell but we didn't speak or stop, worked great.
With regards to the incident and having spoken to many locals about it the general feeling among them is one of utter disgust and a kind of hopelessness. We were apologised to 7 times on Sat and Sun by various workers at the hotel, random people in the street and even a porter at the airport when leaving (which if I was Douglas Adams would be able to make a great joke about I'm sure
)
A fantastic, surreal and sad holiday. -

Depending on where you're going and how much you're spending, I'd recommend getting just enough incidental Euros to cover getting to the accommodation and emergencies and then get what you need from the ATM there.
