New Gorillaz Page 2

I can definately see 3 or 4 chart-hungry tracks in there.

Anyways, I like it for the most part, but there's perhaps a bit too much rap involved for my liking. Snoop Dog chats out of his ass for a couple of minutes. The cocals on White Flag are more annoying that anything else. I just can't stand people who talk like that. To me it just sounds like a couple of dumbasses trying to read a book.

My only other complaint is that it does seem to get a tad boring towards the end, but then again i've got the attention span of

Really? It's their least poppy IMO. Seems OK so far, it's no Demon Days that's for sure.

My first listen was via my laptop speakers unfortunately, will give it a blast on the Stereo-O-Doomô when I get home.

Oh, I'm not sure. I've played this through a few times now and love it a bit more each time. There's no way this is their most pop album though. Much of it is a lot more downbeat.

Stylo is hypnotic lush, going for a walk with this is awesome.

I refer you to Empire Ants, Rhinestone Eyes, On Melancholy Hill (does this sound like Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac, only much better?), Some Kind Of Nature, Broken and a couple of others.

On Melancholy Hill is genius ...

Oh, it's good. In fact, I'm starting to wonder if this may be some of the best Stuff Albarn has done, Gorillaz, or not. Wonderful album, maybe better than Demon Days, imo.

Quite the genius is Mr Albarn.

Loving this. Not a fan of hip hop generally but the more melodic tracks on the second half of the album really pull you in, to the point that the first half starts to really grow on you too. I'm addicted to 'On Melancholy Hill' too.

Listened to this all the way thru a few times now, I've never been that into Gorillaz before, but I really like this album.

Anyone see them live a few years back? I'd dismissed them as a kids band at the time, and missed it. Listening to Demon Days a while later and well.. what a mistake. If they're even half-decent live, I think I'll go see them.

They are amazing live Brem. All though it was all seated in Manchester and the security wouldn't let people dance, or even stand! Absolutely brilliant night though.

They look set to be on a pretty big world tour though this year, starting with the Coachella festival in the US, then over here later.

I love all the Gorillaz stuff, and would even go so far as it like them more than Blur (whom I love by the way). I still don't 'get' Glitter Freeze (too high pitched for my childlike ears no doubt) - but the rest of the album is seriously growing on me. Intially I wasn't impressed - nothing other than Stylo standing out - but the more I listen, the more I like it.

I should have known after the Journey To The West album.

I will join the chrous here to herald Albarn's genius

Shame about the hip hop.. Must admit I turned it off after the first 2.5 songs.. so there's less hip hop in the last part of the album?

Edit: erhm.. hip hop = rap to me. Probably a wrong definition..

There's really not that much hip-hop/rap in there. Only on about four tracks. The rest of the album's very different and, imo, rather good.
