I think my game is irrecoverable now Black site only reduced counter by 1 and when I hit the the top the counter started at 12 days. I don’t have enough intel to get to the last contact I need to get to an alien facility. Also don’t have enough time to get more intel. That sucks ![]() I think I’ll need to focus on getting more resistance contacts a bit earlier next time so I have more options for dealing with the avatar meter. It’s annoying because combat wise and base wise I was looking in pretty good shape. Oh well. |

Registered 9 years agoYeah I obviously didn’t get that balance quite right this time. I was expecting 21 days on the countdown but only got 12 and that just didn’t give me enough time. -

Registered 9 years agoMy new game isn’t going so well. Seems much harder than my last one for some reason. Already had 2 full squad wipes in 3 months. Also only just got my first engineer so I’m way behind on building.
Just about hanging in there though. It feels this game is doomed but I want to see if I can turn it around. Just need a couple of successful missions and I think the tide might just turn. -

Registered 9 years agoIf it helps, I personally find that rushing to Magnetic Weapons as soon as possible really helps with squad survivability. -

Registered 9 years agoYeah I have that researched but no alloys to upgrade. Due to squad wipes I’m taking on vipers, mechs etc with teams of 4 rookies using basic weapons for the most part. I think I’m doomed but going to try another couple of missions. Or maybe just one if the next one is a wipe -

Registered 9 years agoYeah I've just got the black market but got interrupted with a mission 1 day before the end of scanning. I desperately need the GTS as well to increase my squad size and start training some rookies. I've now got the space but no supplies as had to spend them all on buying the engineer and replacement rookies.
I'm doomed aren't I? -

Maybe turn down the difficulty if you can? I remember my first successful campaign was on the easiest setting, because it took me ages to get used to things. -

I completed EU on Classic Ironman, so I can't bring myself to lower the difficulty

Update on game 3. Was forced into doing the black site by the avatar meter reaching the top and only giving me 11 days. Completed it without too many issues , although lost my senior ranger. Now in a race against time to get to the next facility. Think I’ve left it too long though. I seem to be about 3 weeks behind where I need to be which is annoying. Similar to my first game really.
