Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection Page 13

Agree with Vice about them not being fun and bullet sponges.

Bullet sponge enemies are the least fun thing you can put into a game. Even worse that they upped the clichéd enemy type in 3 with the melee sponge Brutes.

    Insipid game design. I'll give 4 a go when it's a tenner.

I played the last few levels of 2 yesterday and finished it. The end boss fight is something I don't like. And I agree, the tank and helicopter chase is not my number one choice.

the blues brothers however did kill me a fair few times yesterday, and I for sure didn't smile when it happened for the 3rd time in a row. But for some reason when I managed to grenade launch the shit out of them, pick up their bow and eliminate the brutes with that and move on, it does feel very satisfying. maybe I'm just weird.

and just for the reccord I did write in oposite direction as Vice, but my post wasn't a direct responds to him or anything.

It's all good, Big-Swiss :) I didn't take your comments as an attack. Sharing opinions is all good.

Shoot them in the head then you nonces. Job done.

New to the series, but it's great fun. Yeah it's a little shallow gameplay wise, but who cares. Good story (for a video games) looks great.

well, finished U1 and U2 within 5 evenings, and will start U3 tonight.

I hope I can stay motivated and don't suddenly have enough. I think I just got old and love the humor drake has. I miss good humor in video games.

"great, again the power is out and the girl is trapped. I swear to god, if there is a zombie around the next corner....:"

Finished all 3 again recent. Even on Brutal mode. I think I prefer 3 to 2 now days, but still 2 and 3 are very close.

    Bullet sponges? Shoot the heads...

Uncharted 2 is a pretty massive step up in quality isn't it. No massively discernible differences either but it all seems much more enjoyable.

Just made a start on Uncharted 2 this evening, played the first last year and loved it.

Bought this on the sale recently and fuck me the first one is tedious. Is the 2nd really that much better or have they just been overated because they're exclusives?Like Crackdown. Or Nintendo.

Am I missing much by skipping the first?

They are kind of self-contained, so not really. In the end the second one was the only good one for me.

Currently borrowing this from a mate having played and completed the original PS3 versions.

Completed the 1st and 2nd games within a few days.
I'm now around 40% of the way into UC3. I always felt that UC2 was better than the 3rd but now I'm not so sure.

I thought all the desert and museum stuff in 3 was really good but as soon as anything supernatural begins to happen it gets boring really quick. I much prefer the slightly more grounded sections where it's got ridiculous set pieces but all grounded within an action movie version of the real world. Maybe that's why I like 2 so much, I can't remember any spooky business.

Gave up on 1 and I'm enjoying 2 a lot more. The moment to moment gameplay is still fairly shit however.

Just finished 1. Loads of stuff in it that I just didn't remember from the first time I played it.

The Nate/Sully love scene was very sensitively handled.

There were those weird blue zombies with extreme bullet resistance. I guess that pretty much counts as supernatural.

Just playing the remaster of Uncharted 2 now. And I have to say it is absolutely stunning. A truly magnificent bit of work. The game is a fresh as something made today. Straight up it is probably the best PS4 game out there (The Last of Us in equal first place).

All those of you who played the Uncharted series on PS3 (like me) should get the remaster. It's simply staggering what they've done and I'm enjoying the games as much as I did when I first played them.

    Bravo Naughty Dog. Bravo!
    Spot the uncharted fanboy ;-)
    Wrinkly?

Well wrinkly probably went to school with Francis Drake, so is hyped they made a game about him.

Couldn't agree more! I found the first mostly utterly tedious. Endless dull cover-based shootouts with bullet sponge enemies, followed by the occasional totally linear platform section. It does get a little better towards the end when they introduce a different kind of enemy, but mostly I want my life back.

Weirdly, the 2nd is just so much better. They didn't change things up radically, but the little things that made the first game borderline crap they mostly managed to fix. Still not a brilliant game by any standards (the well written characters seem to eclipse most of the game's lesser points) but I actually enjoyed playing it, unlike the first.

I'll be very interested to see what the third is like, given it's meant to be the worst?

Only because it so heavily mimics 2 in structure. It has some of the best set-pieces and the character bits are fantastic. It's a very good game, but people wanted something more than 2.5.

Which is most likely what 4 will be.
