Well it's hard to take hope solo seriously now that I've seen her bum hole

Thought I’d bump this rather than starting another thread. England playing well so far although the penalty was a bit harsh.

    That penalty was bullshit

    I hate VAR again

England are obviously the better side but it was a solid competitive opening before that

VAR wasn’t the problem there. It was just another example of the stupid handball rules.

Was really looking forward to this until the var bullshit, enjoying it now though...

I could get it if the cross was blocked but it's flight and pace were barely effected

Scotland were hard done by with that VAR penalty, but their defending is not helping them get back into the game.

Harsh decision but the score line does reflect the game.

Yeah England being 2-0 up feels about right even if Scotland's game was cruelly taken from than early

That handball was ridiculous again. Champs League Final all over again. Shit needs fixing sharpish.

England have had a few moments of gamesmanship this last 20 minutes. I think Neville has been passing on dark arts on how to close out a game

Can't really complain about the outcome given how things have gone.

The manner of it kind of sucks though.

Would love to see either team do well in the competition

    Result.

    But could do better.

Scotland can go far - competitive.

Decent game. England gotta be concerned by the second half drop off in performance. Will get done by better teams.

I know you want as global a game as possible and to reach out and be as visible as possible and do all you can to spread the game ... but sometimes games like USA v Thailand are just cruel

The USA are being criticised (rightly so imo) for over celebrating each goal once well ahead. I think after 8-0 you should dial it back as the match is clearly a total mismatch.

The score is a reflection of where the sport is right now with regards to professionalism

Celebrating each goal like it's a 93rd minute winner in a cup final is just classless

I suspect now many other countries would have celebrated like that....

If I scored in a World Cup I would go nuts too, I wouldn’t care if it was the 11th goal against Saudi Arabia or a last minute winner against Brazil.

World cups only come around once every 4 years and the current state of the woman’s game means you may not be playing next time it comes around.

I'm amazed by the number of people I've spoken to (including women) who think that women shouldn't be playing football. Admittedly they tend to be from an older generation, but it still seems off to me.

It's not a great advert for the women's game when teams are getting thumped by 13 goals at what is supposed to be the pinnacle of the game. I don't know what good that does for anyone really. Maybe have less teams in there until they are ready.

It's a bit of an anomaly though. Most games have been really competitive

The men's game has the same issue due to region based qualification. I guess you can argue that only the strongest and highest ranked teams should participate. The down side is that they'd be mostly European teams which goes against an inclusive world cup. I suppose it's all about advertising revenue.

Yeah I suggested to the Mrs that might be some games like this, but have been pleasantly surprised at the competitiveness generally. Pretty good tournament so far.

If Thailand qualified for the World Cup based on merit, then we can't complain about the score line, no matter how ugly it looks. In elite sport there are always levels which some can reach and other can't.

If however, they were hand picked to participate or the qualification system wasn't robust enough, then FIFA need to re-think how the organise a tournament like this and keep it competitive.

Had a conversation the other day who claimed they didn't watch because "yeah, the football is decent but the goalkeeping is appalling"

No fan has ever watched football for the goalkeeping.
