You cannot be absolutely sure until they have finger printed everyone. But they probably are unique. -

Registered 19 years agoNow this doesn't bother me AT ALL, but then I don't plan to go and steal from someones house. Although Mr Blairs government tell me I have one arrest credit to see how lucrative that is
Nor do I plan to nick someone elses car. So thats fine too.
In fact, if it may just help catch one of the twats which have broken into my car countless times then its fine by me.
In fact, moaning about this sort of thing is what leads to liberal stupidity like not being allowed to defend your property or line your wall with broken glass in-case a burglar with a large knife, coming to rob you accidentally cuts his liddle fingy wingers and decides to sue you for crack money.
I wish it was far fetched, but its not.
edit: missed a word out.

Because I don't like the idea that the state has a record of where I travel to, or what I do generally and the like. I believe in privacy and freedom, is that a bad thing? -

I'm not accusing you personally, but I think there's a smell of emperor's new clothes about people who immediately baulk at this sort of thing.

The next words out of their mouth are usually "oh but surely you must have read Orwell's 1984...".
What makes you think the government would waste time working out where you go for your summer holidays?
Exactly how is your freedom going to be eroded?
You'll tell Thomas Cook all of your personal details, as well as where you go on your holidays.
Please can someone explain to me why I should be wringing my hands about this, because if my house is burgled I really wouldn't mind getting my stuff back.
I'm not even some right wing nut - I don't agree with shooting burglars in the back, I don't believe the public should be dishing out death sentences for trespassing.

Personally, I just think it's a step in the wrong direction. Where will it all lead? We now have Guantanamo Bay powers of withholding suspected terrorists without so much as a hearing. Fingerprinting of the general public, a government lying to us about war. It's just (again, personally) a bit too much to take in all at once.
You'll tell Thomas Cook all of your personal details, as well as where you go on your holidays.
But that's because I choose to. If I want the government to know, I'll bloody well tell them, if I don't I won't.
Maybe it's just me.

Registered 20 years agoThis is nothing compared to the governments plans for road tolls. Using sattelites to track the position of every car on the road.
THAT, is fucking scary. -

Exactly. It's just too much surveillance of what we are doing and I don't like it. -

Registered 20 years agoNow RFID tags really are the scary stuff. Private companies can automatically see where you're going after you've bought something off them, muggers can quickly scan you to see how much money you've got on you before they do you in. That's scary, isn't it?
No?

Registered 17 years agoI liked the idea in Minority Report where the advertisements actually greet you personally as you walk past them....
Also I thought that shops would be able to text you as you got near inviting you inside, or letting you know about a certain deal they've got going? -
