Registered 14 years agoPandora Tomorrow works, but Splinter Cell 1 is not installing for me. I hope it's not because I have a review copy. It worked just fine on the 360. -

I was one of the original 3-member fan club back in the day. -
I've still got the disc along with a select few others from the 360 days that I was hoping would become backwards compatible. Enslaved was another one, so yay. -

Registered 15 years agoI dug out my old Splinter Cell disc, complete with £45 price tag circa 2002, and my Xbox started installing a 4.5 gig patch which must be pretty much the whole game.
I know it's getting a resolution bump but does anyone know if it's in a 16:9 aspect ratio too? The patch is still downloading.
I'm curious to see how the graphics hold up. -

Registered 15 years agoUnfortunately I had to leave for work while the patch was still installing. Something to look forward to for tonight. I recently played Blacklist too which was okay but just made me want to play the old ones again. -

Registered 15 years agoTo be honest I think I actually prefer they are supporting the old games rather than making a new one which they would inevitably ruin by shoe horning in modern gaming trends.
Splinter Cell wouldn't work as a "live service" and there seems to be no room for single-player, closed-world levels-based games these days. -

Registered 17 years agoGraphics (Chaos Theory) take a little getting used to, it's such a step back from what we have nowadays (obviously) especially on a huge screen but after a little while I've got acustomed to it and immersed in the game, think I had a 28" 4:3 CRT when I played this originally! .gif)

They run on PC in the arcades and you can use a simple frontend (look up Teknoparrot) to run them, it basically allows you to map the controls and tweak things.
I have the arcade versions of Sega Rally 3, Outrun 2, Sega Golden Gun, Virtua Tennis 4 etc etc all running perfectly on a modest PC.

Registered 15 years agoGoing back to 4:3 will be jarring. I did play through these on 360 about six years ago and found them pretty playable still, and they looked alright although admittedly I had a smaller TV back then -

Registered 14 years agoAm I right in thinking that the BC programme is paused to concentrate on the next console and its compatibility with BC
Therefore when it’s released we can just put any old Xbox game in and it will work without waiting for it to be converted?
