To be honest mate since release 4 has never been optimised for PC. I think 5 needs a total overhaul for you guys.
I read post after post on Gears.com with PC players complaining and rightly so that they are not being considered.
I know even the original was on PC but to me Gears is a console/Xbox game.

Congrats Mayhem, as I have said before, I spent a lot of time playing Gears 1 at 4-6amish with our lad asleep in the basket next to me after getting up to feed him and give the missus a longer sleep for the first 6 months or so after he was born, so Gears doesn't have to stop just yet!

Sadly haven't got either character from the Xmas packs though, despite buying a fair few, unlike the UIR one recently where I got both characters from three of the 2000CR sets!

I got the Gingerbread Man in my first 400 pack. Nice bit o scrap that was. Also got the Elf Oscar later on but scrapped that too. Only need 65000 to max out my Horde Engineer Cards..... one day maybe!

For the 'easiest' one, that's some bloody grind!

As well as being "free" on Gamepass, you can get the digital version for �4.50 on CD Keys.

If you were just joining this console generation now or got an Xbox for Christmas you really can mop up all the classics for pennies.

I haven�t had this much fun since I got a 360 with Gears 1 all those years ago.

I�m even setting my alarm for 6am each morning to play a quick hour before it gets too hot.

@DUFFMAN5: if I wanted to learn more about the Gears world, where should I start book wise?

Morning mate and welcome to the wonder that is Gears.
Re lore, luckily there is so much of it. The books obviously containing loads. The first book you want is Aspho Fields. This is seen as a bridge between Gears 1 and 2. Karen Traviss authored 5 books in all.
We also got a new novel last week bridging Gears 4 to Gears 5, different writer but still a good read.

Also there is a YouTuber called Barricade2091 He is excellent and entertaining, he also knows nearly every detail in the Gears universe, way more than me.

Lastly the comics are great, best way to get those now is in the omnibus editions, avalible on Amazon.

If you are into the lore you are in for a MASSIVE treat with Gears 2 and 3 story. I 100% recommend them. If you are more an mp person, as much as I adore Gears 3 multiplayer (well I just love Gears 3) Gears 4 is the smoothest game you are going to get until Sept 6th
