Completed first play through (no stinger, wth platinum*), I'm not keen on replaying but will just skip as much as I can on the second playthrough as I've read it picks up on the third/right after first ending - they should've just continued from there, no restarts. Couldn't care less about 9s.

Combat isn't really deep. The boss fights are ok, the final boss on first play through was really good.

I wouldn't mind playing something else for a bit but my choices are starting either Witcher 3, bloodbourne, continuing horizon or FFXV.. pressed for time /o\

    /First world problems

@pacrifice Most of the "padding" in the first playthrough comes from sidequests, in my experience. It was those that were responsible for the majority of the time I spent backtracking across the world map, trying to find a confusingly placed objective marker.

The good news is that any sidequests you beat on route A will remain beat on route B. The better news is that some new sidequests become available, which are less backtracky and have much more interesting lore. The game gets its weakest content out of the way early, in route A.

Even so, without trying to dash through things, my route B playtime wasn't much more than half of my route A time (I was quite completionist on A).

and then you get to c, and that point when you realise you're only about halfway through....;)

You mean you get to C and realise the game suddenly decided to increase the difficulty ten fold. No gradually increasing it, just "suck my balls" hard all of a sudden.

It was so bad I had to Google to check if it was just me and there were countless community posts and articles on it.

Plus 9s sucked,I hated his character and was no where near as fun as 2.

This is down to 25 quid on the ps store so now worth a look at that price.

    @Bichii

aye, definite spike at the beginning of c but once you get used to the hacks, they're a piece of piss....relatively speaking....;)

and, agreed, i preferred 2b, too - but then i think that's the general consensus...

Just in case anyone is still looking for this, Argos have it for 24 at the moment.

If you order it online, you will have to pay another 4 for delivery, but I ordered Persona 5 last Friday (which was the same price!) at 17:30 and it arrived at 19:30 the same day.

    Here's a link.

@Ror I saw the Persona 5 price the other day and became Very Excited but, unsurprisingly, they have no copies in stock near me and won't deliver from stores further afield either. Sigh.

@DMJ That's a shame :( It was the cheapest I'd ever seen it, so I jumped on it despite the fact I won't play it for months.

@Ror That was my thinking. I no longer own a PS4 (God of War and Yakuza will be changing that this week) so it was definitely a purchase for the future/lean months. I've seen it for around 35 online, so I can live with it.

@DMJ I need to actually use my PS4 more! Once I've knocked a few more games off of the backlog I can actually think about playing Persona 5, but I'm glad I have it, considering how hard it seems to be to find a copy at a reasonable price recently.

Might be worth just keeping an eye on Argos to see if they get it back in stock.

For those who care the two Nier:Automata novels are getting official English translations this year and next. Sounds lke the first is a retelling of the original story and the second is short stories around the universe. First one is up for preorder on Amazon now.

I'm enjoying this, but I feel I'm spending the majority of my time getting lost in the restrictive and baffling map. Good game at the core, I just keep getting frustrated by the level design!

I'm close to binning this! So many frustrating moments to deal with.

I'm currently hunting rogue agents, but during the battle I got hit off the platform where the fight was happening. I'm not able to get back up, due to me getting kicked hit off every time I climb up the ladder. I've wasted a fair few health potions and this stage and it's just getting annoying.

I want to persevere, but the negatives seem to be outweighing the positives for me.

Looks like this is on its way to Xbox. Guy from jeuxvideo has heard from multiple sources. He says this is the first time in five years he's felt confident enough in a rumour/leak to publish.

    @Armoured_Bear Prepare for disappointment!

It's pretty close to being Platinumgames' weakest title, overrated in the extreme.
So many people rave about it.
I'll probs buy it and rage quite after a few hours.
I should finish God of War, Link's Awakening and Luigi's Mansion 3 before buying a new game but will that stop me? Unlikely.

There are plenty of things to find fault with so I can see why it's criticised, but I loved it

I think it's an amazing game. And the soundtrack is something else. The good far outweighs the bad in my opinion.

I think of it more as a Yoko Taro game than a Plat one, so I don't mind that the combat's not as deep.

I do think the original NieR is better, though.

Its weird hearing people discuss NieR as a platinum game... Its a Yoko Taro game for me too.

Also Platinum did that legend of Korra game, how anyone can say that NieR is worse than that.

The worst part of the game is the virus bit near the start of route c.

I thought it was pretty great. And I usually find JRPG cringy and embarrassing.
