Last podcast mentioned multiple other ways of 'being' in the world, including being a merchant. So far the treasure hunt 'quest' (as they term these different player motivations) is good fun, but a little narrow. Adding in merchants, bounty-hunts and presumably other 'roles' will be really interesting. If they have a player-driven economy at the heart of the game alongside exploration, that could be excellent.

Told my friend about it one night and he signed up online for the alpha, didnt hear anything until I got him to turn on the Xbox Insider Hub app and register there too, he was on the next alpha test after getting a email within days.

Do both if you can.

I'm in the forum level of it all, but not actually in the game beta, so there is various levels of access afaik.

Or have I missed something and done myself out of game time?

That vid is pretty much the alpha as is. Is fun, and am intrigued to see how other roles will weave in. If they can reward exploring, trading, producing? and other things alongside killing and looting, good stuff.

Just had a superb time, ballsing everything up.

Let's just say I was juggling a dozen sailing tasks whilst my crew chatted about bananas.

I think I could really enjoy the sailing side of this as a game in itself.
