I don't see how anyone can say that a self confessed niche console that sells 4 million in such a short time is a business failure.

Also, I've convinced two previous none handheld owners to buya DS, and countless EG'ers to buy Polarium.

Face it Bill, you're wrong. Wrong wrong wrong.

What does it feel like? Does it feel bad? Does it feel like you're being whipped? With tongues of fire?

Oh my... I need a lie down now.

It's the way you speak it and the simple fact that you can't accept you might be wrong...

Lutz, quit being such a whiny little baby and deal with it. I'm not here to make friends, like you most definitely are. If the person i'm talking to is more concerned with how I talk rather than the information I transmit-- then I don't care about their opinion anyway.

Nintendo's condition worsens every year. Their profits may be remaining the same (actually I think those are going down now as well), but their console and portable market share continues to fall. Hell, look at their stock performance: there aren't a lot of people willing to invest in Nintendo for the long run.

I think "made" is the word you're looking for Bill.
And who has a problem dealing with stuff here?

You might be wrong Bill... Deal with it.
If the person i'm talking to is more concerned with how I talk rather than the information I transmit-- then I don't care about their opinion anyway.p
Then why are you here? At what point did you ever thnk anyone gave two shits about the "information" you transmit?

Come one, hands up. Who cares about the "information" from Bill?

lol you are making this up. Nintendo have a reputation of being a very good dividend yield investment. Strongly supported by investors and brokers.

Am I honestly the only one who thinks Nintendo is going the way of Sega?

I doubt it. It's just people don't want to seen agreeing with me, for social reasons even they agree with me on technical reasons. Plus, they do not want to offend pansies like Lutz whose feelings are hurt everytime somebody doesn't think of themselves as a piece of shit.

Again, in reference to DS's performance let me repeat what i've already said about it...

If you were to section off DS from all of Nintendo's other portables and look ONLY at the DS and it's performance you'd say "hey, not bad!"

If you were to put every Nintendo portable as well as their performance and compare and contrast them, you'd look at the DS and say "what the fuck happened here?"

My favourite games now are for the GC and with Killer 7 and RE4 not yet in my collection, I can't wait for those either. Nintendo = great games.

Hmm... are you sure you don't mean "Capcom = great games"? :-)

Nobody's more surprised that the DS has sold than me. I still can't for the life of me figure out WHY people are buying it, but I guess I must be out of the target demographic. Or dead inside.

I hold a similar worry for the Revolution. I've got this awful nagging feeling that Nintendo's 'wow factor' innovation is going to end up being a huge 'meh' for me. Again. Hence my impatience to actually get to see the bloody thing. :-)

No. Many people probably agree. Myself included. I agree with you. It's just that, you know, I might be wrong about it all, and that I can see many things at once, rather than distorting things to fit MY view on the world.
Plus, they do not want to offend pansies like Lutz whose feelings are hurt everytime somebody doesn't think of themselves as a piece of shit.
When have you ever hurt me Bill? If I gave a rats arse about what you was saying, and if I had 1 iota of respect for you, then yes. But to hurt someone you have to know them a bit, or be a friend a little. The random spewing of bollocks from you though, hell, that wouldn't hurt a baby fresh from the teat. 99% of the people here have got thicker skins than that mate.

If you were to section off DS from all of Nintendo's other portables and look ONLY at the DS and it's performance you'd say "hey, not bad!"

Er, no you wouldn't. That is what people are saying. If you took the performance of the GB, the GBC, the GBA and the DS and comparred them for the first 4 months of their lives you'd be saying "Wow! The DS is doing great!"

Good point. But I didn't mention Windwaker, MP2: Echoes and Mario Sunshine, Mario Kart, the new Zelda Title on it's way, Eternal Darkness, Paper Mario. I couldn't mention as many titles for the XBox or PS2 if I tried.

Bill, you're a crazy man who believes your own delusions and supposition in the face of empirical evidence to the contrary. Then you insult Europeans in some sort of catchall blinkered racist, fascist worldview even though every country has an utterly different culture, which you've probably never experienced. Are you surprised that no-one agrees with you? You're a steroid pumping, grade A arrogant, pompous lunatic!

Can't we all just ignore Bill? Every Nintendo thread seems to end up turning into a 'slag each other off' thread and it's getting a bit boring, tbh.

I reckon a hell of a lot of gamers bought 'em for those "Eastenders" moments when the telly's taken up by the missus and you still want to game.

Same goes for the PSP. As much as I love 'em both, I still think it's a case of selling the same thing over and over again but the appeal of it being portable shifting people's perceptions.

Be honest, would you pay 40 quid for Lumines for the PS2? ;)

    Typical BGiE thread:

Bill states an opinion as fact (probably using the word 'efficacy')

People disagree, some with evidence to support their claims

    Bill feels the pressure/gets bored

Bill completely ignores the facts that support the argument against him

    People point it out again

Bill claims that everyone secretly agrees with him

People tell him they really don't and that he should calm down and look at the real evidence in the case

    Bill gets 'racist'

And that any display of anything, other than confidence (And the ability to slip a $20 into your girlfriends knickers without offence) is a weakness, and should be abolished.

Yup: and MarioKart DD. What will this innovation be that Miyamoto speaks of? online play? first person viewpoint? Sonic making an appearance? No....two characters per kart. Wow.

This was actually with regards Mario 128 and not Mario Sunshine.

    I think.........good idea.

Microsoft and Sony are going to make so much noise I had a feeling Nintendo would get drowned out by it all.

Delaying things slightly means they won't have to work as hard to grab the headlines.

Personally, I'm more interested in what Nintendo have to say and what they will bring to market rather than the willy waving of Sony and MS over the next few weeks.

That doesn't mean I'm going to see it all through rose-tints, but they do know how to make decent games eh.

    Posted in the comments section:

....just what do we expect the new Xbox and PS3 to give us? To me its like upgrading your PC to play Half-Life 2 or Doom3, at their highest resolutions. Do we really need next-gen right now?......

    Nail. Hit. Head. On

From the limited amounts of information readily available - only Nintendo appear to be doing anything different - which I sincerely applaud them for.
