Registered 18 years agoSpeaking of politics, it was quite funny watching the anti-labour people this weekend in the local shopping centre.
One of the mothers had painted propaganda onto a pillow case and put it round her child. Nice.
And another guy had a balloon wrapped around his neck for some obscure reason. Still, at least that caused a laugh.
"Excuse me mate, if you want to hang your self, you're not doing it right!"
I was so tempted to burst the balloon behind him. A comedy moment missed. -

Registered 20 years agoAhhhh, the BNP.
Who else would put a leaflet through the door with the tag 'My Daddy Isn't A Racist' showing a BNP 'member' sitting with the family.
Followed by 2 pages of Victorian Dad-style stick waving.
'loody hell. -

Why is it a waste of a vote? If you 'feel alot more strongly for issue the BNP stand for'?
strongly enough to vote tory, but not completely uttery crazy , ranting every night till i'm pink in the face, to vote BNP.

Tell us what you do then ? You aren't a gangmaster are you, forcing millions of Chinese to pick cockles for 50p a decade ?
I work in one of the largest Bailiff collection companies in the country if not the largest, i deal with Parking tickets, council tax, and consumer debt's. so i deal day in day out, over the phone with these poeple that owe debts, and 6 out of 10 calls are from asylum, ethnic minority. screaming at me because they feel they shouldnt be paying it with the attitude that i owe them a favour, even tho it has been proved to them they are are liable on serveral occation. Most of these 6 out of 10 are not currently working, never have, claiming benefits and dont want to work/ look for a job
So these calls and numbers/ratio and the same crap that poeple give you slowly changed my personal view over time.
BUT !Please dont get me wrong i have some good friends that are from asylum, ethnic minority backgrounds. however i feel they needs to be more control BUT! no were as extreme as the BNP propose.
Perhaps i'm wrong, is so please show me the error of my ways, but currently thats my person view

Uhm, BGiE voted for the Libertarian party in the US elections. Do you think their immigration policies, or any policies at all for that matter, are in tune with those of the BNP?
If you are going to call someone a xenophobe, you should have at least present a small shred of evidence to back it up. -

Registered 18 years agoYes I know about his previous asshattery, though he has mellowed a lot latley. However his antieuropean rants were often by a lot of boneheaded anti-americanism spouted on these boards. He behaved like a dick, but I really don't think it was a product racism. -

otto: As I said. I know he used to be a right asshole. But I believe that was more of a childish reaction to a lot of just as juvenile crap spouted about americans in this forum. It's not an excuse for insulting people, but it doesn't make him a racist. -

That's a generalisation, and I think you know it is. I refer you to your previous post:
I'd suggest that in your position you have to make an extra effort to be understanding and to put yourself in their shoes. Imagine you were in a strange foreign country, in desperate need, and faced with something as scary as a bailiff. How would you react?
The problem is people, who are naturally selfish and thoughtless
Surely you can't just apply that to British people. Fact is, some recent immigrants will be money-grabbing scum, just as some long-time British people are. And given BSport's line or work, perhaps he's more likely to come in to contact with that subset of immigrants (wheras native scum knows to keep out of his way).
I don't dismiss your point though. Surely there are a number of people who come across him who are just confused and become a bit aggressive. I'm just suggesting that by no means is that all of them. -

Registered 18 years agoWell I missed the cheats thread, and I think that it might be for the best if I avoid further speculations about BGiE's motives for his anti-european triades. I'll let him explain them himself, if he so wishes.
However I maintain that to imply that someone who voted for a party in favour of completley free immigration would sympathize with an outright racist party is a low blow. -

Fight bigotry and hatred with bigotry and hatred. It's bound to work.
The ridiculing of those who hold less then ideal thoughts concerning race and foreigners does nothing to educate or improve. About the only thing it achieves is to polarise opinions and push those folk even closer to the extremists. As the 'moderates' tend to think so highly of their own enlightenment it's strange that they have no problem emulating the same kind of intolerance as the lost.
To dismiss all problems concerning immigration as only exisiting if you are a racist nazi scumbag is to be pretty frigging ignorant of the wolrd yourself.

Yes, I agree, but I think you need to make that clear. Otherwise you too are tarring all immigrants with the same brush, except you're using lovely honey rather than nasty tar. You're in danger of describing a world which doesn't align with people's real experiences, which I think it what reduces the power of your arguments, and allows the sort of crap pedalled by the Daily Mail to get a stranglehold.
Of course there are going to be dodgy ones just as there are dodgy types everywhere. That's no excuse to do a Daily Mail and tar them all with the same brush. People should assume that a person is straight up rather than the opposite, especially if you're in a position of authority over them. -

As for the comments about mexicans I can't comment since I have missed them, and since I'm on a dial-up connection it's to ardorous a task to search for them right know. I was hoping you would do the work for me.

Steady on. I'm simply saying that he should put himself in the shoes of the people he's dealing with and try to see their problems from their perspective before assuming that the problem is with them. -
