Dirty scope used for three years "Staff at a County Antrim hospital used an internal examination probe for three years before finding out it was dirty. A dossier obtained by the BBC shows the scope came into use at the Lagan Valley Hospital in 2001, but none of the staff knew how to clean it properly." "Last year, staff at Lagan Valley Hospital found some reddish fluid under the tip of one of their scopes and it was suspected it had not been properly cleaned. The BBC has learned that none of the staff at the hospital knew how to clean or disinfect it properly, because it contained four channels. Staff only knew about three of them. " |
