Maybe. Then they can cast him as Indy and complete the circle.

    Hope not.

It needs to be someone much younger, early to mid 20s at the latest I think, can't think of anyone suitable off the top of my head though.

I always thought the Han Solo story would work really well as a series rather than a movie.

I also have a feeling that we will see a young Solo in the Star Wars Rebels cartoon this season. I am basing that purely on the fact that they said the word 'solo' twice in the opening 2 minutes.

Dan Stevens could work. Still, part of me is thinking I'm nearly fatigued with this franchise before it's even rebooted.

I know what he means though. It's not a reboot but it's definitely being given a new lease of life. And I also agree it's a bit worrying just how much life they're planning to give it. I mean, I fucking love Star Wars and am really excited about ep VII, but you don't want too much of a good thing. Spin off movies worry me a little.

Theoretically yes, but I'm also of the personal opinion that more or less every single TV show in the fantasy/sci-fi genre is utter shite. So if they must do it, I'd rather it was a film with the associated production values and acting quality that should go with it.

    Dude, Where's My Millenium Falcon?

    Carry On Coruscant

    Rita, Sue and Boba too

There's loads of different directions they could go with the spin-off movies. I would watch all of them.

There have been plenty of great sci-fi TV shows, but there's an overwhelming amount of mediocre to rubbish ones. I'd be much more nervous about a TV show.

Utter shite might be a bit harsh, but the amount that reach the quality of top tier TV shows (Sopranos, The Wire, Mad Men, Breaking Bad etc) is pretty much zero. Firefly probably comes closest.

Most worrying is that the Disney/Marvel TV shows are very average indeed.

Yeah and they bloody cancelled it.

The better sci-fi shows are generally slightly more cerebral ones (B5, BSG), you can't really do the SG-1 format anymore as TV has changed. I would worry that a Han Solo origin TV show would turn into adventure-a-week.

There is potential for someone to do a great TV sci-fi show. The fact the Game of Thrones exists demonstrates these genres can be done properly. But you'd need someone like HBO to do it, and it would need to be relatively serious and adult for that to work.

Han Solo adventures is never going to be that thing. It's so much more likely to end up being like Shield or Young Indiana Jones or something.

I would like Disney to throw a curve ball and have Vod (fresh meat) as Han's

Problem is Game of Thrones costs something ridiculous like $5 million an episode to produce.

Fuck knows what Disney would have to throw at a Star Wars TV show for it to look 'authentic' to the movies.
