I'll be honest if you go back 10 years-ish I used to hate Affleck. I just thought he was a talentless fuckface but I gotta give him credit he's actually put some effort in over the years and actually improved himself. He's been really good as a director too. I'm interested to see what he can do.

It's all quite risky pushing ahead with this type of stuff when Affleck as Batman may yet prove to be as successful as Affleck as Daredevil

A lot of this depends on how well the other films do first and if they turn into turkeys then we might have new Batman again.

On a side note this is a bit risky when the audience is almost (if not more so) as likely to write him off as soon as b vs s is released. I'm guessing this was written into his contract from the start. Also why don't they show more of this film, it's been coming for what feels like years now, was shot last year and still little but a crappy (imo) trailer that showed very little. Are they worried about this ? Or just confident.

It's nearly a year away yet. Seems a little redundant doing shit loads of trailers and clips this early. I'm sure we'll see alot more as it gets to a few months before release.

Nothing happening with this one yet. It's coming after the Justice League film I think. By which point, you'll have three helping of him already. Batman vs Superman, Suicide Squad and Justice League.

They're confident. I think Batman vs Superman film will easily pass the $1bn mark.

Edit: This film will be out in 2018.

It does beg the question, what is the point in waiting so long to do a stand-alone Batman film? By the time we've seen him battle Superman, The Joker and god knows what in Justice League, whatever comes up in 'The Batman' will likely be somewhat disappointing.

I'm really interested to see how all these DC movies turn out, I just wish they took their time with it a bit more!

He's probably tied up with these for a while and it's probably unlikely they'll be able to squeeze it in anywhere.

It's the big panel at SDCC tonight (UK time) so there could be another trailer for BvS and some footage of Suicide Squad.

I was t too keen on the whole bleak outlook but I'm warming to it now.

Isn't the Joker only a fairly minor role in Suicide Squad? Possible just a flash back or something.

My guess is they'll save him properly for the stand-alone film.

Could well be but I think he's still filming with the rest of the cast. It seems as though they're doing Harley's origin story but considering the amount of interest the role has already produced, I would think they'd try and get him on screen for a much longer period.

I don't think it's too risky tbh. They're not planning to start making it until after JL Part One, so it's going to be at least 2/3 years away. Plenty of time to pull out before much money is spent if BvS and SS are disasters. (SS I genuinely cannot work out whether it will do well or not. First trailer will be important - hopefully get one this weekend.)

I think if they want to create a big shared universe, the downside to that is the necessity of planning so much fairly far in advance, I guess.

Wouldn't any film, regardless of quality, get a standing ovation from the execs at Warner if it's got 'Batman' and 'Superman' in the title as it's nearly guaranteed to make them a fuckton of money?

The idea of them being so impressed by Affleck's performance they immediately try and add another two solo Batman films to their schedule is a nice thought though. I like the idea of what they're doing with Batman in this film so would love it to be done well. I'll try not to believe it until I see it though!
