Looks like Affleck wants out. He'll probably do this film and then call it quits. Fair enough as it's a huge commitment. He's trying to find a cool way to bow out.

While Affleck was great in BvS, there was a clear lack of foresight in casting an older Batman with a younger Superman in a franchise that was supposed to last several years, if not a decade. OK, RDJ was only 3 years younger than Affleck when cast as Iron Man, but at the same time, the MCU could subsist just as well without Iron Man, and probably will have to after 2019.

The DC universe is problematic in that it is difficult to really create a functional cinematic universe without its core three heroes (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman).

A common expectation right now is that Flashpoint will end up retconning the entire DCEU, allowing the entire Justice League to be recast in a few years, but given that Flashpoint is being prioritised now, I wonder how realistic that expectation is.

    Heh.
Affleck to star, direct and write The Batman.
    Affleck steps down from directing.
New director rewrites script and replaces Affleck as star.

Gyllenhaal would be an interesting choice. He's got a bit of a weird mouth though. Although so has Christian Bale to be fair.

I think Jake has the Batman voice in him / he's not your typical choice though I'd actually see him more likely cast as the Joker than Batman.

Someone appears to have drawn Val Kilmer's face onto a side of ham.

    Leave Val alone!
For me he'll always be playing bare chested beach volley ball in the sunset.

Gyllenhaal seems too nice, kindness in those eyes. Got the stubble though.

Would be a good Joker but we don't always need to see him.

Kilmer will be too busy doing Top Gun 2.

Give it to Leto. He can play all the parts! He can play both Batman and Joker and beat himself up.

Someone should definitely tell Henry Cavill that as I'm not sure what he's been doing all this time as an 'actor'.
