| Yeah I do appreciate the work that goes into the df articles but it really undermines their work when they ask questions that they can't actually answer, like "can the cod co op campaign achieve 60fps? Well we have no idea because the only footage we've seen is pre-alpha" |

Registered 7 years agoI'm probably in the minority, but personally I don't care about "in-depth" side-by-side analysis of games, especially when there's nothing more than a few frames difference and I can't get my head around the fact that some people (supposedly) sit there watching these FPS graphs. -
I susoect u r in the same minirity as me. There is very little of gaming substance or interest on this site and the forum gas become quite beige too -

Sorry, my post was a lot snarkier than intended as it got cut off mid way, damn posting from phone.
But I don't like football and don't play CoD...
And besides, EG does plenty of writing about new and interesting games and genres... It's just a cricket game falls into neither of those categories. And it's not like there hasn't been a cricket game for years. They just tend to be terrible!.gif)
Don't most people rate the new game anyway? -

Registered 14 years agoI cant remember the last time i bothered with the front page. It has definitely got gradually more and more uninteresting. I cant quite put my finger on the exact cause though. Whether lack of reviews or what. Or it could be me thats changed. -

Registered 14 years agoI'm glad I'm not alone in feeling disconnected from the site recently. I'm not sure if its an intended change of direction or a a transition period after some big staff changes but it feels like the site has lost its purpose for being.
Some if it is down to interest in games that are not for me. Destiny for example and I couldn't care less about Digital Foundry but I bet it brings in a load of views. Ignoring that I still feel like the site has become a bit more hobbyish with writers asked to write about anything that takes their fancy. I feel like I'm missing a few more in depth reviews of smaller indie games.
The site now seems to focus on a few games to a massive degree. Hearthstone followed by Destiny and soon Metal Gear Solid. Maybe it just feels like some of the breadth has been lost. -

Registered 7 years agoWhat is this obsession with the cricket game? Over 60s don't come here that often to justify a review. -

Right but the huge amount of news articles we get every week don't count as free advertising right?

Previews almost always have opinions mixed in which doesn't guarantee that any impressions will be positive, look at the "10 reasons why you shouldn't pre-order the order" video. -
I don't know what it is about this site anymore but it just doesn't seem to appeal to me. A few months ago a huge Battlefield patch came out, but not a thing about it on the front page. But if you want to read about some obscure yamma-gachi-whatever from Japan this seems like the site for you nowadays. I'm not saying it's bad to cover obscure titles, but they seem to dominate the site now. I've been going to reddit for my gaming news lately, that's how bad it is. The one plus is Digital Foundry. -

See, that bugs me. Advertising should always come second. If you don't please your audience they go elsewhere so eventually you won't have any audience to appeal to advertisers.

Make the site about proper gaming again, then the visitors will come and you get the advertisers.
Mostly a great forum though. -

It's strange Until Dawn has not seen a review. Played through the first episode and really enjoyed it. Definitely worth a look if you like Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls. -

But did people complain about that? I don't really care since Eurogamer generally score games exactly the same as other sites regardless of where they play the game and when they release the review.

Clearly taking longer doesn't lead to more bugs being pointed out. Their reviews are usually shallow and short lately anyway. -

It makes zero difference though, if the reviews actually marked games down for having problems then that would be fair enough but all we get is a review that says the same thing as everyone else but a week later.

All these policy changes have done nothing to actually improve the reviews, and I suspect that the view numbers are down because lots of people have already checked out reviews on other sites.
