Registered 12 years agoI saw the video again last night. I really, really hope that this game is not let down by the cloud compute stuff. -

Seems a fair assumption, but it had apparently been in dev for 14 months by the time it was shown at E3, so who knows. It's kind of hard to speculate when we know nothing about the scale of the game though; some on GAF are speculating it's a 2.5D Metroidvania. I'll be surprised if that's the case, myself.
Recore won't be early. All we've seen of it is a concept video. -

Registered 14 years ago@dai_bonehead I think that is my fear at the moment. It seems Crackdown has been attached to the idea of proving the cloud is an actual thing. I really don't like the fact that all we have really seen of Crackdown was a tech demo for the power of the cloud. I am get the feeling selling the cloud to us is more important than the game. -

Because Crackdown 1 and 2 weren't exactly that, were they?
Just Cause 3 was ok. Mayhem was awesome, game was repetitive, unfortunately. -

Registered 4 years agoI think there's a lot to be said for their tighter scope. Just Cause bores me, because it's too big, whereas Crackdown, being smaller, felt more like a playground. -
Crackdown was also far cleverer than that.
Weakening kingpins by eradicating lieutenants who controlled guns, soldiers etcetra was a class idea ripe for development.

I guess the biggest difference is that the perks allowed you to become progressively stronger, faster, better, etc. That sort of progression makes a huge difference to me. It made fights play out differently at the ten hour mark, compared to the forty hour mark.

Just Cause, as fun as the mayhem was only provided you with better weapons and mods. And after a little while, I didn't even bother with attempting the gear mods anymore. I count that as a fairly big difference. -

Registered 10 years agoGood. I look forward to hearing more about it, and just hope it's better than Crackdown 2
This was one of my reasons for picking up the xbone. Along with Gears and Halo. -

As an aside, I've spotted my post at the top of the page from two months ago about Just Cause 3 hasn't changed yet either.

Registered 12 years agoVery underwhelming showing for this at E3. Been watching some of the footage captured from the show floor and it barely seems like a step forward at all. Could almost be looking at a remaster of the first game.
Considering it's one of the few games MS has for the end of the year, you'd think they would have shown more. The fact that they didn't makes me think it may be a bit pants 🤔
Would love to be proven wrong of course, as I have really fond memories of the first Crackdown and it's a franchise that's never been treated as well as it should have been. -

Registered 13 years agoI liked the footage, just a prettier Crackdown 1 is good enough for me. I really disliked 2 so anything closer to the original is good in my book. -
