I popped through the entire series recently, in the right order, and rounded off with the film. Great series, loved it. Hendricks turning up was a nice thing too. The film is so much better when you've seen the series and understand the characters. Although, as usual for Whedon, he kills a couple of key characters. The ending looks set up to be able to carry on...if only. Nice to see Kaylee and the Doc finally crack it too. Such a waste it didn't carry one. |

Registered 8 years agoAnyone else hoping that Whedon absolutely nails The Avengers and it makes hundreds of millions, then he gets catapulted to the Hollywood 'A' list?
Then, with his newfound power, he puts all his efforts into bringing Firefly back?

Registered 13 years agoThis superb overlooked gem of a series is finally getting a long overdue UK Blu-ray release in September for a bargain penny shy of £18:

If you haven't already imported it or don't own it on DVD then it is highly recommended. Once you've watched that then make sure you view the even better Serenity movie. It's such a shame it was cancelled by Fox. -

For anyone ordering from Ireland, add the Serenity BluRay to take it to £25 and eligible for free shipping -

Registered 15 years agoDid you code that from scratch? I have no idea what X-Plane is, so your achievements may be a) awesome, b) meh, or c) somewhere in between.
I'll go for a).
On a separate note, I'm sitting here looking at my 'Reavered up' model of Serenity, and it got me thinking.
To fool the Reavers, on their trip to Miranda, as well as chucking paint all over her, and Kaylee messing up the engine, they strapped a load of dead bodies to the hull.
Now, presumably there's not the same sort of friction on leaving atmo as there is on re-entry (and I guess they have controlled flight, rather than free-fall), but surely those soft, squidgy bodies would have disintegrated as they reached any appreciable speed in the atmosphere? -

It's b definitely!
X-Plane is a flight sim and the model was done by Ben "Mid7night" Harber.
I just flew about a bit and made a video of it. -

Or both, as (I think) was in the script. -

Registered 10 years agoJust watched the first episode of the Blu-ray release. Slightly disappiointed truth be told. Not noticing much different to the DVD release but I suppose that's the grain effect at work. The shots of space and the ship are the most noticable improvements imo.
However, I don't like leaving this thread on a downer. So...

Personally I'm hopeful that Netflix will make more episodes of Metal Mickey, I used to fucking love that programme.
