semi-finals. I am cheering psv on, of course. But do you guys give them any chance? I definitely hope they'll manage to get the all important away-goal. My prediction. psv 1 - 1 milan. |

Registered 19 years agoThe first game is at the San Siro, which works against PSV imo. If PSV don't get an away goal they're pretty much stuffed, and if it ends up 1-0 to Milan then I'd say Milan are through.
Although, Milan did beat Deportivo 4-1 in the first leg at the San Siro last season, and then went on to lose 4-0 in Spain, but I don't see that happening again.
As for Liverpool vs. Chelsea... GO SCOUSERS!
And just out of my interest, why does everyone want PSV to beat Milan? A case of 'always back the underdogs', or is it just a general hatred of Italian teams?

Registered 17 years agoliverpool. dont really hate chelski but i think it would be bad for football if they won the PL and champions league. I think they play quite a cynical style of football that I hope doesnt catch on, and on top of all that Rafa seems like a nice bloke. -

Registered 18 years agoWell I'm routing for Pool but that's just cause I always support the old underdog...So PSV will be getting my (admittedly useless) support.
I also fuckin' hate all things AC anyway... -
If Liverpool win the Champions League there is a very weird knock on effect, that I don't completely understand, but may result in 7th place not being a UEFA cup place...
...so I am supporting Chelsea, kinda despite myself. -

Registered 17 years agoI think its because one country can only have a maximum of 4 champions league places, so if liverpool win everton (or whoever is 4th) would be pushed into the UEFA cup and the 7th place team would lose their UEFA spot. or something. -

Registered 18 years agoAny Everton supporters? Remember, if Liverpool win the Champions League, then 4th place might not be good enough for qualifying for the competition next year. And what Kalel said. So don't support Liverpool all those in the running for European places!
(As if Everton fans would) -

Hmm, I think it’s a bit more complicated than that. I’m not sure winning the Champion’s League gets you automatic qualification anymore, I think it just guarantees you a qualifying place. Also it partly comes down to a decision that the FA have to, or have made. But yes, Everton/Bolton may not qualify for the Champions League, and it may close 7th up for UEFA, so come on you Blues!!

aye, i can see that being a popular decision for the FA to have to make! talk about a no-win situation. I think the same thing happened in Spain a few years ago and Real Madrid were allowed in as CL holders at the expense of the 4th placed la liga team. even so, i reckon there will be a few suits at FA HQ hoping chelski do them a favour and save them making the choice. -

I've been predicting that Chelsea will go all the way and win it since the knockout phase started, and the only team that can stop them is AC. Last year I predicted just after the group phase that Porto would go all the way and win it, and they did. The way I predict it is, I take the team I least want to win it, and predict them to go all the way. Last year that was Porto, and this year it's Chelsea. -

Registered 18 years agoI'm hoping for a chelsea-psv final, but for different reasons. 2 of psv's top players went to chelsea, so it'd be interesting to play those teams against eachother.
Hmm, Stam is also a ex-psv player, I suppose he is still at milan. -
Milan, I've always had a soft spot for them.
I hope an English team wins the tournament, I don't think Liverpool have the consistancy and strength to see it all through. I'd love to see them win it, but over two legs Chelsea will beat them.
It looks like it's shaping up for a Chelsea Vs. Milan final, and I'll be backing Chelsea there. -

That was part of my reasoning too but if Liverpool get trounced tomorrow, with no sign of them getting back into it in the second leg, I'll switch support to AC Milan...

i just know that middlesbrough will finish in 7th and then liverpool will win the champions league. It's just their luck.. -
Just as an interesting aside, at the moment Spurs qualify for the UEFA cup via the fair play league!

Italian teams.....They are so frustrating. Psv was clearly superior in the second half and still Milan scores the 2-0.
Ah well. Chances are now minimal. -

Registered 17 years agoI can't wait to see how many shots on target PSV had in that game. I would hazard a guess at 12 with all of them being drilled straight at Dida.
Park should be taken out and shot. His general play was excellent but everytime he got the ball at his feet in a shooting position he just froze. Same goes for the rest of the forward players this evening.
Having said that they really didn't deserve to concede a second. Just a crushing blow. -

Registered 18 years agoI was expecting to watch Chelsea Vs Liverpool, but it's not on until Wednesday (which I'll miss cause we're playing Boro) I think the continuous advertising on ITV about the return leg next Tuesday has confused me. Anyway PSV were very unlucky, Milan now go to Holland 2 up, meaning PSV need to score 3 goals to win, which isn't impossible, but very difficult against a resilient Italian defence. Good luck in the next leg M_D.

Registered 18 years agoI was sure Milan was going to score another one towards the end. It's how they operate.
PSV played surprisingly well, but had terrible finishing. Milan had one clear chance and scored two goals, wich says something about the quality of their forwards.
It's all over now for PSV. -
Personally I think it'd be ace if Crespo banged a couple away against Chelsea in the final .gif)
The financial crisis in Italian football generally has only really improved things for the bigger teams though hasn't it? It's stopped the merry-go-round of players every summer and actually fashioned teams as opposed to collections of individuals.
I'd love to see Chelsea win the competition though, I think it can only be good for English football. Since Utd have consistently failed to re-achieve what was evidently a fluke win, we need another CL trophy to prove the premiership is up there. -
The Premiership has already proved it's a competitive league this year, by having two teams in the semi-finals.
Chelsea obviously have a good chance of winning, but I hope Milan ends on top because I hate Mourinho (I like many of the members of the team, I just can't stand the portuguese bugger).
