@SomaticSense it very much depends on the level, if your people are level one and two it will not take long to get them back to the level so sacrificing people to get full-loot can be worth it as it costs nothing to hire new people. This does not apply to boss battles though as they are almost always very brutal and will likely lead to a squad wipe your party is not in good condition.

The other thing to bear in mind is that while there is a progression one can still have low-level encounters to train up new people.

I ran out of money frequently, it always seemed to be my primary issue although I think some of that was over-provisioning my people.

@Rivuzu Buy a new one you tight wad.

I bought this yesterday and I am doing everything in my power to not look at a wiki/walkthrough.

I struggle to get through the first dungeon in this! I made it through tutorial, but the most basic 1st level stuff is rock hard.

after I've run out of food, my team are starving and freaked out, I'm looking at yet again leaving the dungeon early :(

@Gregolution i had to restart several times to get the hang of things. If you are struggling don't forget to upgrade your people, you can only do that once they reach level one but it is worth it.

You should always take eight food with you and over eight torches. Don't forget that you will also need a spade sometimes.

@Mr_Sleep my mistake this time was to eat the food to heal them, then they got hungry and had to starve which is a big hit to health AND stress. I might as well turn back in the state they're in. Still got 3 more rooms to clear.

Yeah, sometimes it is best just to call it quits and move on to another mission. One thing that worth concentrating on is upgrading the pool of heroes. This gives you more to choose from and also means that as you upgrade your people you can still do easy missions to get some money.

Do you want to have a chance of finishing the game? Darkest Dungeon is nails and very compulsive while seemingly taking ages. XCOM has a much more sensible progression and fewer difficulty spikes.

Darkest Dungeon is cheaper and harder, it is also quite a different game so I would say both!

It's only going to sit in my never to be played backlog anyway!

    Both it is!

Vita and PS4 patch up, fixes crashes (according to patch notes).

In other news, Nuclear Throne patch.....is still nowhere to be found. No change there then.

Fucking hell, this game has just given me the single most stressful gaming experience of my life.

Fighting the hag, and on the fifth turn my entire party except for a single Leper die. Deathblows on all of them. What continues next is 89 fucking rounds of me healing and attacking the pot and doing only 3 damage max a time so that I can attack her directly. It was manageable, and I was making headway, but with every crit she landed it would put my stress up.

Stress built up so much, character had a heart attack and died from a single hit. Much yelling and annoyance!

    Brilliant game though!

Hah, she is a total nightmare, over three different playthrougha she has wiped at least two groups. Lots of poison and bleeding is the only effective method I have found, well done for trying it melee.

So apparently, the Musketeer isn't mean to be available on PS4 and Vita. It was a Backers Only class for the PC, and as such Red Hook are going to be removing it with an upcoming patch.

Which is fun, considering every single purchase on console is higher than the backer funded amount to unlock this in the first place...

@Rivuzu It does fuck over PC *non*-backers who didn't get the class, to be fair.

Either all non-backers should get it independently of the platform, or none. Giving it only to console gamers is a shit move though.

@UncleLou You know there's a mod out there in the wilds that enables the Musketeer for non-backers on PC, right? :D

Didn't know that, no. I am wondering how much the game is on consoles though if it's more than the 50 US$ that got you that class. It's a great game, but 50 US$ or more seems a bit steep.

Are the controls ok on the ps4 or is it better suited to a mouse and keyboard?

I'd understand the backers feeling pissy, but christ that's a really unelegant and player-punishing way of dealing with their fuck up. It's not like us console players paid near 20 quid for the game well after it's PC release...

It does explain why I lost my Musketeer party member upon loading a mid-dungeon save. I was confused why I now only had a party of 3 when she definitely didn't die. The game just removed her from my save. So there's something weird going on with her even before the removal patch.

Actually, I think I'll just refuse the update. Screw that.
