Not necessarily. I feel like in Warzone it exists as an option for those that don't play very often; if you are playing the game you'll naturally accrue both req points and packs, whereas if you dip in and out every couple of weeks or so, you won't have the collection of cards that the average player would. I wouldn't really say there is a grind in this. You play the mode and have fun, and as you keep playing, your options open up a bit. Or you can just kill an enemy player who has a rocket launcher and take it off their corpse and hey presto, rocket launcher. There's no 'paid circumvention', as there's not really anything to circumvent. EDIT I should also add that if you feel uneasy about it all, then holding off for more impressions is certainly a sensible thing to do. For my part, I've played quite a bit of Warzone since yesterday and not once felt any compulsion to give them my money, and I don't expect to at any point. Edited by Ror at 19:43:35 27-10-2015 |

Registered 16 years agoI remember not being able to play Halo Monday's as I didn't have the cash for the maps. That was frustrating. If the alternative is having the completely unnecessary option of buying something you can play for that unlocks cosmetic options for a game mode, I'll take it

Registered 8 years ago@Ror You can sort of read that as if someone doesn't play the game very often they wouldn't really be able to play Warzone on a level playing field unless they put money down, though? If that's actually the case, it's really shitty. It likely wouldn't effect me, because I imagine I'd be playing the way you suggest you are but it's enough to make me want to really consider whether I purchase just so I don't feed the shittier parts of the industry.
Anyway there's no point in me being super challenging about it until the hype train has calmed down a bit and I can get a more balanced read on how good the game actually is.
And then I can buy a second hand copy as a muted form of protest.

Registered 12 years ago@uberbeard Yeah, I can see how you could come to that conclusion from my post, but that's not what I meant. Just that players that don't play very often will have less options at the req station. It's still perfectly possible to play (and enjoy!) Warzone with just a battle rifle, because it's such a good utility weapon.
Obviously you'll want those options, but you'll get them if you play a few games, anyway. As I said, the game seems pretty damn generous with points and packs at the moment. -

Registered 6 years agoI've unlocked dozens of cards by playing a few games of Warzone and Arena.
Plus, it's also so hectic and big that you really cannot just have one guy dominating because he spent £30 on req packs to luckily unlock some uber death beam. It just doesn't work like that, in my experience.
Not to mention spending energy > no energy left > you die > no toys for you. -

Registered 14 years agoI've been terrible recently at Halo mondays but I'm on for tonight if you'll have me. What has everyone been playing up to now? Arena or Warzone? Would be good to have a team on warzone so we can all fail together. -
Custard games most likely. -

Registered 16 years agoProbably Customs and Warzone, though no Fiesta is my biggest bugbear with this game. That has always been the warm-up game for us. Booooo! 1/10, 343. -

I'll probably make a party too, so join that when you are about so we know you are there, they seem to have fucked something up with the coms again for some reason. -

Registered 17 years agoPlayed some mp this morning (Arena) I'm a little bit pants, not being a Halo player in any shape but I did get 10 kills on one map, I think 4 of those were nades though.
I will be on around 9.30 - 11.00 tonight should you need more cannon fodder. Send me an invite otherwise I will be Gnashering people in Gears.

Registered 16 years agoThat'll probably be a bit late for a large chunk of the Monday lot, and we expect you to just amble your way in casually as if you always attend. There are generally people you can join though, especially this soon after release
