I did actually dip the sugar cube in the absinthe and set it on fire, then accidentally set the whole drink on fire. Surprisingly didn't manage to burn down the kitchen though!

Just keep a tiny fire extinguisher on hand .

Did the Absinthe seem to be different from normal spirit or it just the kick from the high alcohol content ?

Dreamtime herbal tea. I'm not sure who ever bought it declared it at customs as it feels like I've taken a sleeping pill.

    Good stuff :)

All weekend I was trying to replicate Hawksmoor's famous cocktail - Shaky Pete's Brew. It's right up there with my favourite drinks of all time.

It's (on paper) a simple mix of gin, lemon juice, ginger syrup and London Pride. However, there seem to be various methods online, most of which were a million miles off the taste of the real thing.

Closest I got was using Monin ginger syrup, but I still wasn't get the same ginger kick as in the restaurant. Might need to try blending peeled fresh ginger with the syrup, lemon and gin. I also think my measures were slightly off as I could barely move after sampling two versions.

I'm having a bottle of Cobra in this glass I forgot I had.

EDIT Fuck knows why it came out sideways, I've not had that many.

Some beer by toast brewery earlier (made from waste bread for all your eco-lovin' hipster needs) and a tiny rebel brew just now.

Not too bad jono tbh. It was the session ipa. Not a world beater, but pleasant enough. I would willingly drink it again. 😃

I have a different one of theirs lurking in the fridge for later, or another night.
