Personally I'd wait a while longer in to the development process until you start showing it off (I'd guess you're around the 1% mark).

When you're further along maybe include some gifs showing key gameplay features etc.

Best of luck with it, will be good to see progress when you've got more to show.

Not 1%, for the demo with 1 level and 6 characters it's around 60% ready.

Engine is ready, AI mostly implemented, so it will be mainly integrating the assets together and making sure the gameplay is what we would like it to be.

In the meantime, for all who are interested be sure check this thread or the game website or both for news and update.

From the viewpoint it looks mostly like The Ninja Warriors. A stone cols overblown synth guitar gaming classic.

Make sure you get the blocking with knives thing in. That made it.

Ok I live a side scrolling beat email up, probably my favourite genre.

But I can't say your character designs do much for me. They look incredibly generic. Not sure why your chap is in bicycle shorts either?

Maybe too far down the line but if you put a bit of originality and love the into them it would probably get more love. Man with gun and ninja? Even in the 80 and 90's they had realised big bold sprites with personality sold games.

Thank you all for the interest you have in this game.

Make sure you get the blocking with knives thing in. That made it.

Dan won't block, but some enemies will block Dan shurikens.

I got this criticism from many people, so I want to say that Dan will have a more traditional ninja suit! as well as an enhancement of his current looks.

Dan is an UFC fighter but also a Ninja enthusiast so he will put his ninja suit if you want to.

Dan in ninja suit will look good too. James can't be the main character but he is the principal ninja enemy in the game.

The 1% wasn't a dig, it just seems from what you've shown to date - you've got a single sprite with a backdrop working.

Anyway, my point was it'll be tough to generate real interest in your game when you're not showing much (at all) in your "grand reveal"... from a marketing pov you haven't got many chances to grab people's attention and generate word of mouth, especially without a budget.

For anyone interested by this upcoming game:

Dan's got a new look.

There was a lot of complaints about it,and we just won't let the main character to be less appealing that other characters.
Dan will also transform to a proper ninja mid level.

He wears cycling shorts which shows he's sporty and ready for action but he has tattoo's which are edgy and cool. It's everything i want from a bicycling ninja.

It won't be a Shinobi, it is inspired from Shinobi and others.

Game mechanics will be varied and we'll keep the best ones, there will be more general variety, bigger levels than the arcade games because in the arcades they want you to die as quick as possible and enemies definitely with better AI.

In the end, it's the gameplay that is our top priority. Good graphics are great, but gameplay is more important.

Hmmm, maybe tone down all the muscles, it looks like everyone is wearing painted latex.

How are you animating the characters, frame by frame or puppet animation?
