    Bah the Watchachowskiiiis are hacks.

They rebranded a two parter TOS episode "The Menagerie" and hoped no one would notice.

    Pike is Neo.

Any successful film from the past 30 years is based on old Star Trek. It's common knowledge if you work in the Industry.

It's common knowledge. Like that bit when Smith plays 4D chess with Neo then bangs out a tune on his space lute.

Anyone else finding their enthusiasm for MCU severely depleted after Endgame?

Yeah, my friend and I were discussing this last night.

Both of us said we couldn't care less about the new films coming up except for maybe the new Thor.

Endgame was okay but these macguffin centric movies always bother me

My enthusiasm was deleted sometime after Age of Ultron.

Theyíre still mostly watchable, but it feels more like waiting for next weekís installment of a predictable risk free sitcom episode than a major event.

The One Where Thor Does A Funny

@You-can-call-me-kal Nope. I am hoping that they can reinvigorate it without relying on the established formula and take the universe in all manner of directions. There is a wealth of stories to draw upon and they can still go cosmic, small and all the way in between. They can let the characters go in directions that donít require the ensemble cast.

@Your-Mother Risk free is exactly right.

Probably true to the source material whereby NO ONE IS EVER REALLY GONE

People will obviously be really gone because actors have contracts that cost a lot of money, they get bored of doing the same thing indefinitely and they actually eventually die.

It's not the same as a new artist drawing an old character again and again.

Or they just recast them like Hulk or War Machine.

He was, despite Craig being pretty damn good there will only really be the one true Bond.

Mysogyny was a cut above back then too.

I lost interest after the opening credits of Iron Man.
  • Deleted user 16 September 2019 20:53:16
My ex passed out during the scene where he reached into his chest cavity.

Of course my friends and I were very supportive.....

Thought Far From Home was a great, fun romp with a superb mid-credits sequence.

Will use RDJ to get punters in to see Black Widow but itís got Scarlett Johansson in it so Iíll definitely be watching. Regardless, I think itíll be pretty good. Am I PUMPED for it? Are my adrenalineís 100%? Nah. Didnít see Far From Home until only about a month ago and it was the first time Iíd not bothered with IMAX.

Only one Iím really looking forward to is Dr. Strange 2. Love the character.
  • Deleted user 16 September 2019 21:03:09
I love Johansson like the next guy but Lucy

I didn't realise they'd ever killed Bond. What movie was that?
  • Deleted user 16 September 2019 21:41:03
What point are you arguing? I'm saying they won't let characters either die or stay dead as they want to keep beating a dead horse.

You seem to be overly pinickity.

You Only Live Twice. Edit: I misremembered it. I thought he 'died' during the film

    I guess Skyfall sort of

And at the end of the book From Russia With Love readers were led to believe he died.

Danny Boyle allegedly left the directing of the new Bond film as Craig wanted to kill off 007 in a spectacular final. Then they would have done a Bond "out of the ashes" but with the new 007 actor. Or...a Time Lord style regeneration! Depending on which tabloid you choose to peruse.

I'll reword it but I thought it was pretty obvious from the first response.

I'm saying they will because the movies aren't the comics.
They could absolutely recast characters and bring them back to life through magic, or the multiverse or time travel, but I don't see it happening as permanent fixtures (and I don't see pre-death tales or post-death moments as a caveat to that - if they remain missing from the MCU timeline post-death they're still gone). They've killed characters and they'll let them be dead because it's pretty much a necessity when you're dealing with actual people and not drawings.

I don't know how that's "pinickity", whatever that means.
