| They took a fairly relaxed pace with chatting out the exposition this first hour. I didn’t mind it, but hopefully it gets right into the plot next time. Seems like it might be a PG Hannibal season 1, with Loki tagging along to crime scenes to consult. |

Seeing as it's a very short season I think they'll be cracking on with the pace quite quickly.

Registered 15 years agoI love the amateur critics that always act like exposition is a bad thing.
EDIT: Let me rephrase that, there was no call for that. I should've just politely made the point that exposition is often an essential and appropriate method of world building and story telling, and even the most talented of writers will regularly use it, so it shouldn't always be criticised.
It's like the criticism of CGI. It's not inherently a bad thing, it's just bad if it's done badly.

Fuck me let's alert Derrida for this complex deconstruction.

since it's one episode at a time, you could probably bosh It before Lokis plot actually starts next week.

This weeks opener was a 45 minute 'previously on the MCU' recap.

No, that would be the slightly tedious psychoanalysis scene.

Registered 5 years agoIt was a lot of filler to more or less get back to where they were at the beginning of the show anyway. A few decent episodes, a couple of shots that were clearly intentional for memes, and some mild social commentary but very easy to skip. -

Registered 2 years agoI thought Falcon / Winter Soldier improved as it went, but I also groaned a few times. It’s an exercise in trying to give more of an origin story to a character who has no origin story. The MCU Sam Wilson doesn’t really seem to have any character hooks to keep people interested, like Steve Rogers did. Missing his boat doesn’t really stack up against missing Peggy Carter. -

Umm... surely the hooks are about what it means in America to be a black super hero/leader. Ok it is not the most sophisticated drama, but that is what it was about, no?

It's the implication, you see. -
The best thing about Falcon and the Winter Soldier was Zemo. I wonder if I'm slightly gay for Daniel Brühl.
In seriousness though, he has some charisma that the main stars didn't. Said it before but as fine as they are Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan just don't really compare to Robert Downey Junior or Chris Evans.
Falcon and the Winter Soldier did explore what happens when everyone returned in the blip, which I thought was interesting. Good to have a sympathetic antagonist too.
Loki seems fine so far, but it's just entirely set-up so far, which is fine but it could have been done in half the time.
