| The show should of been better, the trailer had so much promise. This could of been Dr who story. Loki was watchable (not as boring as Pigeon man and angry solider) but like wandavision, the last episode never pulls it off |

Registered 5 years agoI for one was delighted to have a finale that was almost entirely people sitting down and explaining things out loud. It was scintillating to have all that exposition (professional critics stand down) revealed through tell don't show. -

Registered 5 years agoAlso feels like it's a banger of a time to start drumming up hype for NWH and drop a trailer. Tobey Parker and Andrew Forehead Parker is such an open secret at this point they might as well acknowledge it. -

Registered 6 years agoI enjoyed it, was a pretty good setup for season 2. Sylvie really does drag it down everytime she's on screen though. Awful sub Dr Who style actor. Didn't really buy the guy playing the Wizard of Oz at the end either, could have used someone a bit more kerazy.

Registered 16 years agoAmerican casting directors seem to confuse having a Northern accent and being a good actor, presumably because they've seen every episode of Game of Thrones. See also Karli in Wing Cunt and Arm Bastard who was acted off screen by the extras in her team. -

Registered 17 years agoLooks like we’re getting the new Spider-Man trailer today. Hot Toys just released images of a new Spider-Man figure with the new black and gold suit. There’s no way Sony would allow them to release something like that so soon if it wasn’t in the trailer and wasn’t coming soon. -

Registered 7 years agoI like Sylvie and thought Loki, the series, was the best of the Disney+ series. Agree last episode was missing something.
Tbh I think Daredevil S1 is still the one to beat. -

Registered 8 years agoI too liked Sylvie. Best of the TV series so far for me. And I really enjoyed wandavision.
Looking forward to the distant films that will play off of this. -

I think this ended up being its own biggest problem. It was setting up so much stuff, S2, presumably Phase Whatever of the movies that it forgot that a series is supposed to have a satisfying ending.

It would have been so much better as a one and done. -

Registered 16 years agoI didn’t think Sylvie was that bad but, yes, if you are going to have a British woman, either of the two other British women in the main cast would probably have been better.
The woman from Lovecraft country is excellent. -

Registered 6 years agoYeah. Also I don't know the character at all but I didn't really buy the Lovecraft guy as an all seeing time distorting trickster. Seemed too straight laced and normal. Would have preferred someone a bit more out there. Again I don't know if thats what the actual character is though. -

Registered 18 years agoI didn't mind Sylvie as an actress just felt her character and writing was a bit flat.
Hunted since childhood, living only in apocalyptic worlds, that's the chance to write an interesting character, instead it felt a bit meh.
Same with "good" Kang definitely would have benefited from being a bit more unhinged and sinister. -

Registered 7 years agoThere’s something about young and relatively unknown English people in American shows where it does often make me feel I’m watching some cheap U.K. programme.
It was probably the best of the Disney marvel shows so far because it had a bit of ambition and the plot went somewhere with some decent actors and characters.

Registered 16 years agoI think the boring answer is that its the director/producers fault.
*Long interminable anecdote warning*
One of my mates went to school and was quite good friends with the redhead who was in Lost. I thought for the longest time that she was supposed to be Australian until they explicitly said she was English. He accent was all kinds of fucked up.
Anyway, according to my mate, she doesnt sound anything like that IRL, shes from Cambridge and they asked her to change her accent to something more generically british and, as a result, sounded deranged to actual british people. -

Registered 16 years agoTbf, the best british actors usually end up with american accents as seen in this.
The Judge went to my daughters school, so they are a bit Loki themed at the moment. -

Registered 7 years agoOther than Hiddleston I’m struggling to think of any other young English actors that keep a (posh/generic) English accent in big American films and it fits. I dunno why it works so much better when the actors are older (50+ at least), older the better. -

I think the opposite. Its a lack of ambition held it back, the whole thing felt like it was not enough to be a movie so they padded it out and put it on Disney+

Wandavision is the innovative one for me. The structure with the sitcom pastiches and it probably tells the deepest emotional story of any single MCU title.
F&WS got to show us what happens to normal people in the MCU and had the content about race and US Agent’s journey.
Loki just did some timey-wimey filler stuff and it all felt very inconsequential because no one in seemed that bothered to me even as reality collapsed.
