Registered 12 years agoI had one match of it, it isn't really grabbing me. It feels just fine, art style is ok but not brilliant. I need to go back to it though as I jumped straight into PvP and had absolutely no idea what was going on. It's very very busy, visually speaking, which may just be because it was new to me, but I had difficulty grasping who was good and bad, let alone any more nuance than that. -

Registered 6 years agoPlayed a bit earlier before my net died. Campaign mission, with 4 others.
Was quite fun, loads of enemies and booms and things. Felt a bit zergy, and the character I was playing (archer lady) lacked 'oomph', but she was fun enough. 3 moves rather than the 'standard' (ish) 4 feels a little limiting, unless I missed something.
I think the Borderlands thing is more DNA than intent: the game is clearly orientated a different way, and, as I wasn't a very big fan of Borderlands, I really don't mind that.
Not tried the competitive aspect yet, will be curious to see. So far it's fun enough, but not grabbing me instantly like Gigantic did, and remains to be seen if it has enough depth. -

Registered 9 years agoI think 'busy' is the biggest problem with this. There's so much going on it's hard to imagine much strategy or tension. I agree with @cowell - OVerwatch looks better, plays better, and is in a vaguely similar genre, not sure how Battleborn could go against it. -
Thought I'd give this another crack after being unimpressed with the alpha.
It's telling that no one is talking about it really. It's strange that they opted for a Moba type game instead of a Borderlands sequel considering the looter is now such big business.
I know Mobas are but they helped to bring the former to the fore with their Diablo/Shooter hybrid.
I certainly know more people awaiting a sequel than looking forward to this. -

Registered 13 years agoI enjoyed it, I agree it seems very busy and a bit overwhelming at first, but it was fun even while losing a match. Will give it a chance when it comes out. -
Just had a go. Seems okay. I've got my eyes on Overwatch though so it remains to be seen how similar they are.
Had to quit the game I was playing though, some weird visual glitch hell bent on provoking an epileptic fit was too much to bear. -

Registered 6 years agoI think this deserves a little more attention than it's getting. It's by no means bad. It is busy, but you learn. -

Registered 10 years agoI don't get why they are shouting about any borderlands connection to me, all that's going to do is piss a lot of people off and end up with hoards of the game in cex day two. But then they will have had your money by then so I guess now I get it.
For the record I played one pvp game, I thought it's was a bland, chaotic mess but then I did the play it alone. It looked nice enough in its art style I guess. I may try the story mode later but I think it's the last chance I'll give it.
Personally I think this and overwatch coming out in such quick succession is a big mistake, there is room for one at best to perform well, I think it's probably going to be overwatch as they have built up a pc following by having such a long beta -
Does Overwatch have campaign missions? I've only seen PvP.
That could be a crucial differential as this is has the Strike style missions of Destiny.
It still felt a little stiff to me. After months of Destiny and Halo it felt a bit dated in that regard. Loads of interesting looking characters though. -

I expect that it's because the game feels so similar in everything but the colour palette that it almost feels like a parody.

Weirdly enough the humour style in Borderlands never bothered me, but playing the single player mission for a bit (unfortunately Gearbox shooters always makes my friend motion sick, so it looks like this is a no-purchase anyway) it grated the shit out of me. -

For me that's immaterial. It's competitive or nothing for me with most (not all) games like this, unless the campaign has some super amazing moments which I am not expecting at all. I.e. I don't see the story being much cop, and the grinding aspect =/= not what I want from a team-based shooter/moba thing. Which is another reason I probs won't bother with it

Registered 8 years agoI went into the open beta not knowing much about it, and not being a fan of borderlands.
I was very impressed. The characters seemed to all have personality, which I cant see in Overwatch from the videos I have seen. I also like the fact that there is a PVE element (something lacking in Overwatch).
My only issue is all my friends are totally uninterested in this. As this was nowhere near as fun playing solo or with PUGs/PUB groups, im in an odd spot of wanting to get the game, but not wanting to play it solo. Annoyingly I may have to pass on a rather interesting looking game.

Registered 6 years agoI don't think it's odd to want to play it, but not solo. It's a team-based game, and the campaign seems like a side-attraction rather than anything really worth a lot of time.
Might be wrong though. -

Registered 12 years agoYeah I keep trying to convince my lot they want to play Overwatch when it comes out, I don't think it's going well so far. I completely understand wanting a game but not wanting to play it alone. But then we have a forum full of (nice?) people here, maybe you can form a group? -

Registered 8 years ago@ModoX Funnily enough, that was my next idea. If anyone on the forum here is likely to pick up Battleborn and would be interested in grouping up, I'm happy to. In the beta I tended to favour Reyna and Miko, but also enjoyed playing Toby, Bolder and Thorn. I'm playing on PS4.
Im on PSN as The_Jeef

Registered 6 years agoModo: me, Masakil and a few others will probably try out Overwatch on X1 (and PC probs), so you'll probably find people to play with.
I actually, looking back, enjoyed Battleborn much more than I expected. It's not like Overwatch other than being a FPS hero-shooter, there are significant differences. -
Cool, I'm not sure where to get it so will probably try the beta on both systems. It feels like it should be a PC game and will have a larger audience there, but it's been a long time since I played an FPS on k+m, I think I might just get slaughtered
