Registered 15 years agoCampaign group called Liberty is launching a legal challenge (that's crowdfunded) against it, triggered by the recent EU ruling:

Registered 17 years agomight as well say I've donated a tenner to that, since the fucking Food Standards Agency and god only knows who else can request my internet records anyway and find out. -

Oh well, at least it feels like I haven't wasted money on my VPN subscription. Though I'm sure it's only a matter of time before using a VPN is illegal. -

Registered 4 years agoThis is pretty sad stuff when you think about it. The amount of illogical decisions that keep being made surrounding the net and all the neutrality and basic privacy issues.. @Psychotext thanks for sharing the news, I'll donate a little something myself.
What do you guys think of US based VPNs? It's argued that they can no longer be considered effective - http://vpnpick.com/can-you-trust-a-us-based-vpn/
I have more of a libertarian view on mass data collection, I couldn't care less how much spying power they have if a proper warrant is given by a court of law. After all, you live by the sword .. or whatever, do the crime pay the time. But selling our private data just for profit is unacceptable. -

Registered 15 years agoI wouldn't go for one in Europe, or the US for that matter. NordVPN is based in Panama, for example, and thus a lot more hassle for someone to persue when looking to snoop on you. -

Registered 15 years agoNordVPN has actually improved a hell of a lot of late. It's at the point where I can't tell I'm actually using it, which is a good thing (well, aside from google and amazon etc thinking I'm somewhere else in the world). -

Registered 16 years agoHave you seen this video? You should see this video. Nothing startlingly new but puts it together in a very concise and well argued video why having government backdoors to encryption is a Bad Thing:
