Has the winner been announced? I 've done a search and can't it. Hopefully I haven't made a glaring oversight and people such as Blerk and Deem and Cubbymoore and phAge will use this against me 'till the end of my forum days. :)

    /let the witch-hunt begin

You've already got a Crystal XBox. That should automatically exclude you from taking part in further comps until...let's say....2009? ;)

    LOL!

Seriously though, if I had won it, I'd be keeping very quiet about it. Very quiet indeed.

Oh the irony. Deem wins a Graphics Card.

So how many have you got now, about 12? ;)

AFAik EG wont reveal the winners to the non-winners (some sort of privacy aspect I assume)

The way I see it is that there is no need to rub it in the face of those who didnt win by telling everyone. Thats just not on

But if someone who holds a competition doesn't announce the winner(s), how is anyone to know there's actually been a competition, and not just a clever way to harvest e-mail addys? :)

No, I know EG doesn't do that, but generally.

Exactly. Why not include an addtional condition in the "rules", such as "winners name will be posted"?

    It's almost *too* easy!

I was under the impression that they are legally obliged to announce the winners...

    Many others as well.

The nasty habit of prize swapping that the mags used to/probably still do. Mag A offers a prize, Mag B phones up and offers to swap its prize. Mag A and Mag B swap prizes and announce random made up joe as winner - who never receives it. Direct mailing from the place offering the prize fixes that a bit.

The other trick is when someone is interested in the prize and offers another in return maybe with some cash. They 'win' and the next competition the mag gives away the replacement prize. Been a couple of blatent examples of this happening.

Not suggesting in anyway that EG does this.

I have a friend who works for a sports magazine I won't name, but needless to say every year they have a competition to give away 10 of that year's incarnation of a certain nameless game.

Him myself and another friend have miraculously won this game for the last two year's running!

Read into that what you will.

But I don't believe for one minute that EG are like that. Please don't misinterpret my point.

You're supposed to be able to request an address or phone number of the person as well, just so you can check up on the prize winner.

However most competition rules are flagrantly disregarded, such as the Lottery vs Competition law.

I hope deem is joking, if not then I think by law he is required to give that prize to me.
