Twice now my Firefox has completely frozen up on Eurogamer front page. It seems to me that the Pariah ads on the page are slowing Firefox to a crawl and sometimes making it completely unresponsive. Despite my very old computer (Celeron 333) I've tried to avoid blocking ads, because Eurogamer is great site and I want to support it, but I guess I now must give up and find a way to block flash content from the site. Btw, at work I have 2.4GHz machine, and even there surfing Eurogamer is pretty painful if I have several tabs open. |
Those Pariah ads must die

Yah, on a mac too
although, not a stupendously powerful one.
Tried safari, firefox and camino and they all stall with Pariah -
Being upset at having white space after blocking ads is actually the funniest thing I've heard all day.

Registered 19 years agoThere's a firefox extension (called Flashblock or something similar...) which stops any Flash on a page from playing unless you click on it. It lets you ignore the ads most of the time, then click on 'em every now and again so eg can get their hard earned filthy lucre! -

Adblocking the ads still leaves a horrible white space. It's quite annoying.
Don't fucking block them then! -

Well obviously the adverts are more annoying.
