For those who don't know his latest nugget of wisdom is that all Muslims should be temporarily blocked from entering the US -

Registered 13 years agoI made a joke in the shootings thread that obliterating ISIS wouldn't have much of an effect on the US's mass shooting problem. Trump seems to think it will. -

Registered 9 years agoA friend of mine is a physical therapist and had a couple of actual Trump supporters as patients (I live in the US). She asked them why they support him, and their genuine reasons were:
1) Wars make money. We need war. He'll start a war. So he'll bring us money.
2) His daughter is hot.

Registered 13 years agoAs insane as his ramblings are, there's no way he'd push them through congress, so he's just trying to win as many votes through scaremongering. I think Trump knows this as well, so he's just treating the white house race like an episode of the apprentice and doing whatever he can to hog the limelight. -

Registered 9 years agoHe won't get elected president, but yeah, him having any kind of popular support is a bit worrying. Some of the stuff he's proposed is close to actual fascism. Which is pretty far-out, even for the USA. -

Registered 19 years agoThat far out element has always existed in America... and in force. But there are enough sane people to ensure he doesn't take control of the red button. -

Registered 9 years agoWell, it's far-out in terms of those elements actually having political support.
Nfi what he actually believes though. Hell, the guy used to be a Democrat, and friends with Clinton.
I'm still hoping that he's deep undercover. -

Those are actually the most reasonable points in his favour

Registered 11 years agoIf he does become president at least we can feel better about our own shit stains in parliament. Trump makes Cameron look like a pleasant and reasonable person.

Registered 13 years agoI would figuratively die laughing if Trump was elected. His popularity is embarrassing. Are so many Americans really so ignorant and stupid? He makes Bush Junior look like Eisenhower. I still think the whole thing is some elaborate ruse. -

Registered 16 years agoI would honestly consider moving back to Europe if Trump is elected here. How weak-minded and mentally deficient do you have to be to support someone his ilk? -

Registered 9 years agoEh, I'm not worried about him actually winning the thing. Landslide loss is rather more likely.
Maybe his candidacy will allow the republicans to ditch their loons. That'd be nice. -

Registered 14 years agoI makes me genuinely sad that this guy has been given an (albeit self funded) platform.
He was mildly entertaining for a fraction of a second, but now he has ventured into the just pure dangerous category. Are his supporters just morons or do they just have a really really bad sense of humor. -

But the point is that (for as long as I can remember at least) the republican nomination process has had its fair share of crazy people, but the person they end up with is usually not a lunatic. (which is not to say that they're all swell people - just that they're not insane)
I guess the success (so far) of people like Trump and Carson is partly because of frustration at the "establishment" candidates (Dubya, McCain, Romney) turning out to be almost complete failures. -
Donald Trump is Hillary Clinton.

And now Hillary as herself
