And how many Republicans who voted for Biden because they saw Trump as dangerous fall back in line for a more regular Republican candidate for the Senate

There's also a chance that the 20%ish of Republican voters who think there's no election fraud may get turned off as well.

However any optimism also relies of the Democrats getting their voters out for more than just a Presidential election, so it probably balances out.
If this were happening anywhere rise but in Stacy Abrams’ home state I’d say the chances of high Dem turnout would be slim.

But it is. And she’s a fucking phenomenon in getting out the vote.

A good chance Kemp stealing the governorship will be what created the environment where the Dems get the Senate, as well as playing a big role in deciding the White House occupant.

The Rudy circus keeps on churning. A press conference where he uses My Cousin Vinny as an example of voter fraud, has his hair dye start to melt and run down his face, and has Trump’s own campaign live-stream of the presser end up on hot mic talking shit about him before being abruptly cut off.

You’d have thought after Four Seasons Total Landscaping they’d do everything in their power to keep that Nazi Mr Bean motherfucker away from the spotlight but nope. The gift that keeps on giving.

Also: blaming Hugo Chavez, who has been dead for seven years, for the current voter fraud.

They’re also now claiming the rule of law is that the election results should be thrown out by a judge who then should wait until the evidence of fraud actually arrives before anything changes. Which is a fairly casual admittance that they have no evidence.

"More Michigan news: Lawmakers are flying into DC to meet with President Trump tomorrow, at his request."

    https://twitter.com/AmyEGardner/status/1329468989983125505

Well that's not AT ALL suspicious .......... /s

Presumably this is being done to avoid any possibility of the conversation/bribes/threats being recorded in any way.

Trump is failing in the courts so it seems that he's now going for the openly corrupt 'steal the election' option. Are the GOP just going to sit by and let this happen? (probably).

Who am I kidding, they're corrupt to the core.

Christ. And all these articles with headlines of: “Can Trump really stage a coup?” And being so confident that the “law of the land” will prevail.

Just like when we waited for him to “become presidential”.

He doesn't seem nearly organised or competent enough to be able to stage a coup. I'm sure he will moan about it, but there's a difference between that and actual action.

Watching the press conference on 10 O’Clock News now. Rudy looks very unwell.

Even Karl Rove is saying its over, just admit it.

Some of the theories too. So fucked.

To the surprise of no one, the Georgia recount is done and Biden still won.

Despite the doom and gloom of some, I’m pretty confident there won’t be any elector selection issues. Trump will try for sure, nakedly and unashamed, and get knocked back heavily. There’s too many people in too many states who would have to literally overturn democracy, and that’s without any legal fights that would ensue. It would basically be the equivalent of BoJo trying to declare himself King.

The weird thing to me is that there are any Republican politicians pushing the bullshit "we can overturn it" narrative. I guess they're still scared of getting a Twitter lashing from Trump, even though he's going to be a lot less powerful in a couple of months.

Either there’s dirt on them or they know the money tree is about to be locked out of their reach so they’re scrambling for every dime they can get.

Republicans are in a very difficult situation. They know too well that a great part of their voter base are Trump cultists. They are well aware that "turning against Trump" (by acknowledging the democratic process) may cost them dearly.

And Trump knows how to play them. He makes it very clear that either you're with him or you're against him. And the cultists won't forgive if you're not with him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he does try to stage a coup. I think it's dangerous to assume "it'll never happen".

And far too many people would see it as a victory either because they are racist and/or believe the fucking bullshit conspiracy theories.

I expect him to *try*. He's already trying. But I don't expect he will be successful.

I imagine the Republican party may also be hedging with a view to avoidance of upsetting Trump cultists for fear of a splinter faction of right wingers stealing votes in 2024 and beyond.

The Dems have their internal issues too of course, but I could see a Trumpian split having a more devisive and damaging effect on the Reps than say the Bernie effect has on the Dems

It’s so strange the man they as their God Emperor is such a stupid repugnant sociopath. I get he has some sort of (horrible) big personality but you’d think they’d have chosen someone a bit brighter or articulate or even capable.

At least other crackpot leaders and dictators have something going for them instead of just caring about TV ratings.

In addition to his voters, 35% of potential US voters didn't vote. They didn't think it was worth going to the poll booth and stating officially that they didn't want a 'man' like Trump leading them.

Civil war is too good for them frankly

I am sure a fair number of the no voters will be people the GOP removed from the registers and found themselves unable to vote. (Also not sure if people with criminal convictions who are not allowed to vote are excluded from that 35% or not).

Yeah, Trump lost in spite of absolutely massive voter suppression attempts. It’s not as straightforward as “didn’t vote, couldn’t be bothered”. Like the people who had to make 100 mile trips to vote, or naked ballots getting chucked with no curing possible.

He's a man who has made himself successful by being brash and aggressive to strongarm everyone into doing what he wants. That's definitely has some appeal to a particular mindset.
