It's just insane. Like how the fuck can anyone have so little understanding of how anything works.

Tide goes in, Tide goes out, you can't explain that.

    Haha that's truly insane.

Plus tasking the fucking Forestry Service with the job? Just doubles down on the insanity.

In my mind's eye, when reading that i could only hear it like a Simpson's episode where Homer's in hospital going 'Bed goes up, bed goes down'...

That moon orbit thing surely can't be real though? Thoroughly depressing if so.

I think he was clearly just being a dick. He must have caught Randy Marsh's sarcastaball disorder.

From what I've read this guy, Louie Gohmert had originally proposed his theory that climate change is a part of nature and therefore there's actually nothing we can do here. While fucking stupid this is him trying to make the link that the moon which is part of nature is having an effect on the climate and it isn't something we can control thus we can't fix the climate so let's keep those fossil fuels burning. It's insidious as it is dumb but he knows his base.

Well to be the forums resident contrarian the climate is effected by orbital changes and the sun's intensity.

But I agree that reducing pollution, greenhouse gases and stopping mass deforestation is a better option than rocket boosters on the moon.

While this impacts our climate, as it has done in the past, there is no doubt that greenhouse gas emissions are having a bigger impact.

Take a look at this and you'll see why

Yeah, that statement bugs my inner pedant a bit too. Climate change is constant, the planet has never not had warming and cooling. Saying that doesn’t mean you don’t also completely accept that we’re also contributing to it at the moment too.

There is a difference between natural variation and human induced change.

The whole Republican thing is trying to convince people that the two are actually the same.

The problem is we do not have enough data to definitively say they are independent. This is partially a science wording thing though as there will never be enough evidence to prove anything completely. There is however a huge amount of data suggesting humans have fucked things up.

The really weird thing for me though is who actually benefits from this? The easy answer is “Big Oil Companies” but for the most part that is not really true. I work in the industry and my management’s focus is very much on green energy as that is seen to be the future (and the next growth markets). Not only that but it also seems to be the focus of all our competitors too.

Not just big oil, but also every jellybacked politician in the world. Imagine the impact on every persons life if we were to make a serious stab at reducing carbon emissions. The covid lock down wasn't enough.

Better to let the world burn, drown, and starve.
