[I did a quick search, but couldn't find an FFIX thread. I guess it is an old game]

Final Fantasy IX is finally making its way to other platforms: PC, iOS and Android are listed as "coming soon".

Shit, could mean an eventual PS4 release with x3 speed etc if it's finally coming to PC and iOS!

Yeah, I'd be surprised if it doesn't come to PS4. I passed on the FFVII re-release, but I'd definitely grab this for faster battles.

There's a really good thread on GAF showing the original backgrounds used for IX and you can see that they could look so much nicer. Though obviously that means going back and re-using that original art rather than just upscaling the current game, so it probably won't happen. Let me see if I can find the thread.

Let's hope they don't fuck the port up. FFVII and VIII had shitty midi music initially. VII was fixed later on, not sure if VIII was fixed or not.

Mods should be around if it's naff I guess.

I would love to see a square enix game using that artwork/design or bravely default on the ps4. One can only hope.

Will be noce if Square still have their original predownscaled art to work with. I remember Baldur's Gate EE initially promised this but then the devs found the source artwork had been lost so we just got the default backgrounds.

FFIX was my favourite PS1 FF game. I liked the story and art style and the return to distinctive classes for characters as opposed to the customisable clones a lot of the games had.

Oh, and I would imagine it will avoid the MIDI sounds issues as it isn't reliant on an ancient PC port like VII and VIII.

I was actually wondering why there was a thread called Final Fantasy IX created, so am surprised that the port is coming. Great news.

The 3x speed feature will be great for the PC version. From what I know, the 3x speed feature is still exclusive for the PS4 version of FFVII, which prevents my purchase for that.

Nice that you can turn off encounters - there's nothing more annoying than getting spammed with battles when you just want to get somewhere. The speed boost will certainly help this game as well.

Nice. The character models look great in higher res, shame the backgrounds are still low res, but that was expected.

A PS4 release ought to do well. Boosters are nice but the reduced loading times and, at least in this part of the world, no dreadful PAL conversion to worry about would fix the two main complaints right off the bat.

Come to think of it, those are the only complaints. The game's damn near flawless in my eyes.

I'll be recommending this to everyone.

If it actually has good achievements, this could be worth rebuying.
I love this game and have played it to death though so dunno.

The achievements in the FF7 PC version were just a joke. Most of them you accomplished during the story anyway. They should really add some weird crap for the super fans who would enjoy doing it. Like "talk to every NPC on Gaia" or something like that.

Achievements for the extra stuff, sure. Excal2, Ozma, Chickenbo hot and cold.... But not for talking to NPCs. Lol

the 20 gig HDD space is interesting though,7 and 8 are no where near that requirement.

The HD space is a bit odd. Maybe the high res video is uncompressed or something? Still seems a bit excessive.

The best Final Fantasy.

I think I've replayed this title more than any other by Squeenix.

Looking forwards to the Android version tbh, get mah commute on.
