1500 will get you a very nice one. I did have a beast of an msi but situations changed and I built my own and now it's changed again so need a gaming laptop. I've got the 2 mentioned coming and the Asus I'm favouring. I also posted this deal on hotukdeals http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/hp-omen-gtx-1060-gaming-laptop-1146-hp-2559429?p=29299601 |

Registered 9 years agoI'd swear by Asus' 17.3" ROG line, they're always top quality with excellent cooling. -

No latest and greatest gaming laptops aren't cheap. Normally at least 1k for a half decent one. You have got one now that will last you sometime and I'm sure the games will blow you away. -

Registered 12 years agoAt the opposite end of the market... I was planning to buy a Linx 1010 laptop/tablet, as they're regarded as the best option in the £130-ish range and can even run a few games (obviously lower end stuff, which is fine) -
Intel® Atom™ Z3735F
Intel® HD Graphics (Generation 7), 2MB Cache
But now I've spotted this on sale, which has the benefit of being a recognised brand. There's a newer Cherry Trail Atom Z8350 in there, but I can't find much on whether the integrated GPU will still perform as well (relatively speaking of course) as the Linx.
Long shot, but if anyone can shed some light on what to expect...
Alternatively, is there anything close to that price range (£200-250) that is particularly recommended?

Registered 14 years agoAren't you better off buying 2nd hand from eBay at that price point.
I remember getting an i3 with a targus case not long ago for £150

Registered 12 years agoPotentially - the Linx goes for around 100 on eBay though, and is currently available new for £130.
I haven't seen any other models/brands with the detachable screen under 200 with anything close to an i3. I kept an eye on Surface 3 prices, but an older model means a big chance of Windows 8.1 instead of 10, and they're still closer to £300. -
I'm still undecided on laptop. Sending the Medion back. I'm still swaying towards the Asus rog. -

Registered 10 years agoI don't have a laptop myself, but I genuinely think the MacBooks are absolutely miles ahead in terms of how nice they are to use (build quality, trackpad, keyboard, display etc). However, the cat decided to chew my girlfriend's charger - £80 for a replacement, WTF! -
Mmmm so it's the Asus Rog a gigabyte or msi lappy.
Tough decisions. -
I think overall the Asus gets the better reviews. -

Registered 16 years agoThat's the problem with laptops. You spend a tonne of money on them but there is always one or two things that you don't like and can't do anything about, keyboard, screen, trackpad, battery life... -
This is true. Wish I could still have a desktop but alas it's not to be. I think I'll go Asus. -

Registered 15 years agoI have a MSI GS60 for work and it's decent enough (cost £1300 a couple of years ago). Spec-wise it was up their at the top-end for thin and light laptops, the only downsides are that it's quite flexible (not in a good way) because of the plastic parts and the fans make a terrible amount of noise when you do anything that uses more than 30% of the CPU or GPU. -
My last laptop was an msi gt72 dominator pro. I have had an Alienware 13 as well which I found to be excellent. -

Registered 20 years agoSo with that 17.3 Asus ordered, anyone recommend a decent bag? Also, reckon I will need a fan mat/mini lap-table? I want to sit in bed and use it so what would be best? -
Ordered the Asus. Need a new laptop bag myself now. -

I managed to get it for 1250. Day after I ordered it the price dropped for a few hours so re-ordered. Gone back up though. -
I was waiting myself but really need to get it now as my pc is now ready for being sent to its new owner.
Did you sort a bag out? -
