Just wondering when we will be notified of the process. Do we have to randomly send them in and hope for the best? Personally, I think a weekly column for them would be good.

There's going to be a little "Latest reader reviews" column underneath the news on the homepage, as well as links to reader reviews from the game information pages. You'll be able to submit them online too.

If you have one written or want to write one, we'll still accept them in the usual way while we are getting the new site sections ready!

Er Rauper, what happens to the ones I sent in about 4-6 weeks ago to the Eurogamer address? Do they get put up?

Did ask for a comment back on whether they were okay or even worthy of putting up on the site. Didn't get a reply.

I also emailed in a suggestion to do with the reader reviews & a compo with Simply Games, didn't even get a reply for that. Wasn't expecting anything much, just a little courtesy to acknowledge that someone had read it, that's all.

Don't expect a reply to stuff sent to contact@, but I assume stuff that goes there does get read.

    Everything gets read...

Reader reviews are handled by Tom who puts them all neatly in a folder until the next time he does a reader review feature. Sorry you didn't get a response, though.
  • Deleted user 11 May 2005 18:57:20
    Cheers for replying Rauper.

No biggie about the non-response to the reader reviews, I was just a little saddened that I hadn't (& still haven't if I'm being pedantic) had a response to the suggestion I had for a sponsored Reader Reviews compo that I got people to comment on here on the forum & then spent some time emailing it in. Not getting a thanks just made me feel like not bothering with any further suggestions in the future, that's all.

So no biggie but a biggie after all?

    /confused

    :-)
  • Deleted user 11 May 2005 19:03:03
Ah see, two seperate things there. No biggie about not getting a response to the reader reviews, but more of an issue about not acknowledging a suggestion that would seemingly benefit those that sponsored the site, those that used the site & those that ran the site.

Still not a major problem, hell I've gotta go in for reconstructive knee surgery in a few weeks & not able to walk more than a few steps at the moment so I've got more important things to worry about, just wanted to raise the issue.

Someone mentioned above that you shouldn't expect replies to the "contact@" address, my thought there is what's the point having it then, not a lot of contact going on if they don't reply.

/takes violin & breaks over knee
    /forgot knee is dislocated....ouch!

We do reply to 80% of the stuff that goes to contact@... but yeah, sorry about that.

I don't recall the sponsored reader review idea though - what was it?

    ;o)

Rauper - this was the suggestion, let me know what you think.

    "Kristan/Tom

Had a thought the other night about rekindling the reader reviews section, which I know regulars like, & getting an incentive back in to intice people to write more.

Don't know if you are aware or not but Simply Games have been getting a bit (though not so much recently, either they have improved or people have had enough of mentioning it) of a bashing on the forum due to poor service (ignoring emails & phonecalls mainly) & they could do with trying to win a few people back over, thus my suggestion on the link below. It seems to me to be a good idea for everyone involved with Eurogamer, the sponsors, owners & the visitors.

Could you take 2 mins out of your busy sched's (as in schedules, not the wooden garden types) to have a read & let me know what you think.

    Link

    Regards

Don't even mention Simply to me...

Sick and tired of orders taking forever, "usually dispatched in 24 hours" meaning bugger all, and the lack of feedback/response to emails.

    Sounds like Amazon with me

Just ordered Spongebob/Rugrats on the GBA for the next door neighbours kids birthday & Outrun 2. Both said "usually despatched within 24 hours" so I ordered them on Saturday, safe in the knowledge that they'd be despatched in plenty of time to receive them for the weekend, when her birthday is.

Problem is, they're still not despatched. Numerous emails later I could pick from one of many so called "reasons".

    We didn't have stock.....
"so why are you still quoting 24 hours then"
Sorry we did have stock, it's in the warehouse it will despatch today
    /day later
    "no still not despatched why?"
    stock problem
    "you've said that before"
oh, err, problem with the website which we can't resolve. Not processing everybody's order, should despatch soon.
    /cancels order today.

I don't think it's just Simply to be fair to them, I've found Amazone to be really crap & must admit, Simply helped me out & responded to my email very speedily when I thought someone had got into my Simply account. Still find Gameplay to be the best speed/customer service wise.

    Aaaaaaanyway, back on track.

    What did you think Rauper?

Bah, the thing with Simply is just that they used to be so damn good. The speed and price were simply (badoom-tshh) the best.

Now they seem to be about on a par with Play and well behind Amazon and Gameplay.

Agreed. Dunno what's happened lately but they've lost the plot. Fucksake, even Amazon are quicker!

I ordered some of those cheapie games on Sunday evening from Amazon and they won't even be despatched until tomorrow at the earliest even though they were both "usually despatched within 24 hours." I know I went for the super saver delivery option but five working days to ship is taking the piss.

Super Saver delivery nowadays just means last dispatch. Pisses me right off when its says 'usually dispatched in 24 hrs' and then takes 96.

The copy of Midnight Club III I just ordered for my brother in law from Simply took 5 days.

They have lost the plot. They don't ship stuff out pre-release any more either, the cads!
