A lot of people were unhappy that they had no control over the ending.
They they are wrong. Just like they were with Mass Effect 3.

It should in the sense that the writer should be allowed to finish the story in the way that they want to. Regardless of the quality of the ending, the writer should be allowed to write it.

You mean the 'change the ending' campaign? Yeah, that was pretty embarrassing and made both EA and the fanbase demanding it look awful. It's why I never downloaded that additional epilogue despite being really unhappy with the garbage I'd witnessed at the end of that great game.
Anyway, I thought RDR's ending was fairly well regarded. Am I one of the few who really liked it? -

Maybe he didn't play the ending? If I remember correctly it seems to end when John dies. -

Registered 12 years agoI never completed it, I accidentally reformatted my hard drive. I was on my second play through over Christmas and I'm about to go get some cattle with my son.
I've been told the ending an... I'm not sure I have the heart to take that journey to Mrs Mcfarlan. -

Registered 18 years agobut normally the ending is the end, right? but it seems people mean the bit that happened at 80% of the game? then you play 20% as the son, and after that is the ending.
so what do people mean with "ending" the bit where John gets fucked, or the ending after the last mission with his son? -

For me it is that entire section that's the ending. The son bit is tiny, really.

you could be right! I think I did a lot of side missions and hunting stuff as the son, so probably for that reason I remember the section to be much longer.

Registered 18 years agoI did never got over the fact, that I froze up at that last John part, and instead of taking out as many enemies as I had bullets in my pistol, I starred in shock at the TV. Once I realized what was going on, it was too late, I think I fired about 2-3 shots before being swiss cheesed.
that disapoints me so much,, even to this day -

Chip.de links to MNR Daily as a source, a site I've never heard of. On that site, it just casually mentions it was confirmed without backing it up. It links further to Christian Today as a source, so go to that and the article starts "While nothing official has been announced thus far". It links yet again to a site called Cross Map, and that article is the end of this link train, yet admits it's all speculation.
Add that to what Rivuzu said and it's looking less true by the second. That said, the other day when I was playing RDR on Xbox One it seemed pretty much finished, so it wouldn't surprise me if they're holding it back until an RDR2 announcement and releasing RDR officially on the same day. Much like the other rumours though, this is entirely conjecture on my part.
