    On the subject of horses...

I kept my horse alive from the beginning(from when I could access my pre-ordered horse. And the 'thank you' Arthur gives at the final scenes really hit me. We went through a lot! T_T

There's no RDR Online thread but in case anyone missed it (I did for a couple of days) the new Wheeler Rawson pass is out, along with a new Naturalist role.

You'll need 40 gold for the pass and 25 for the role- I had 100 saved up from the previous pass and from daily challenges so I've jumped right in

Bought it when it came out, can't force myself to play it since it takes so much time to do anything of value.
Guess it's gonna be played at some point since it's an amazing looking game.

I've come back in to it to wrap up the epilogue and to me it's one for those moments you just wanna chill and casually ride through the wilderness on a pooping horse.

Popped online and picked up the outlaw pass, it runs until October so no rush to start it, barely played the online since new year and just seems to be crap weekly bonuses during the pandemic which surprised me.

Yeah the weekly bonuses seem pretty pointless once you've maxed out the role rewards.

I tried the Naturalist role for an hour or so yesterday- used sedative ammo on a few deers and elk to get samples for the new NPC Harriet. Seems like it could be pretty lucrative if you're quick gathering samples, but I don't like how you have to pump 4 or 5 rounds into a big animal before it drops. Guess I'd have hoped you could do one from afar and then track it.

Looking forward to trying out the new bow and Elephant gun though

So, I just got this on sale, and am doing the tutorial intro thingy. I really like it! The controls are really weird (press this button to pick up your gun, press another button to pick up your hat!), but I still like the atmosphere, the characters and all that.

One question though... when can I save? I kind of want to get to bed, but the game does not appear to have autosaved, and I don't seem to be able to manually save either.

@Mola_Ram go into the Story menu and you can save (on PC, at least)

Next time you fire it up it will ask if you want to overwrite the autosave, which gets annoying. But it's fine.

Yeah, tried that. It's got a lock on it saying that I can't manually save.

Anyway, I just quit the game. I'll boot it up later today, see if I have to start all over again.

Was hyped beyond measure when it got announced.
Bought it day one and played 5-6 hours.
I just don't have time for long play session RDR2 kinda demands.

I like it a lot so far (aside from not being able to save anywhere). I like the characters, like the setting, basically like the combat.

And there's ever, ever so much detail. I do not at all support the workplace practices of Rockstar, but the amount of love put into this is truly staggering.

I loved RDR2 from beginning to end. I still load it up once in a while just to muck around in it's world. One of the games of the generation for me.

I fixed the "not being able to save" thing, and now there's a new bug that randomly flashes the game to the desktop and back again. It doesn't stop the game, exactly, but it would be annoying if it happened while I was trying to aim at something.

Anyway, I'm about 4 hours in and (aside from the bugs) absolutely love it so far. It's much slower-paced than the AC: Odyssey, the last open-worlder I played. But that's exactly what I like about it, it never feels like I'm being pushed to do anything. There's loads and loads of systems there, but it hasn't felt gamey in the slightest.

Update: one thing that I do not love at all is the stupid save system.

Started mission, game crashed about 10 minutes in, and a reload afterwards put me back right at the start. The game doesn't seem to autosave at all until the entire mission is completed, and I can't manually save during the mission either.

So, basically, as soon as I start a mission I'm committed to the whole thing, no matter how long it takes. That is really, really dumb - I don't know wtf the developers were thinking. Is it because they don't want you to save scum?

I don't think it was like that on PS4. I'm almost certain it autosaved at mission checkpoints.

My memory could be foggy though.

I had got a few hours in on release, but restarted and played through during lockdown.

Got to be my all time favourite game, the story, acting, soundtrack are all excellent...and a gorgeous world that I could lose hours just trotting around on my horse.

The end of it made me quite emotional, I don't recall a game that has had such an effect on me.

And now due to CV19, I can wear a bandit mask around and about without comment! Just need a horse.

I also want to go back and replay RDR to remind me how the story played out. Wish Netflix would take this up!

I wouldn't count on a patch since they're re-releasing GTAV again. If there's next gen versions of RDR2 coming, they'll be sold to us, not given away.

I'd put good money on there being a performance patch, personally. At least for stuff like load times. That's my opinion, anyway.

Has it been tested on the series s yet? I see there's a DF video today about series x but that's a bit out of my price bracket at the moment! 8t would be great if rdr2 can hit a consistent 1080p 30fps. The base xbox one was pretty ropey.
