That was much better, however I'm still not sold on this Arthur character. Guess they need to show more of his motivations and personality. He seems a bit of a vacuum at the moment which is not what I'm after in a game they want you to live a life of, there doesn't appear to be multiple playable protags so a lots resting on his shoulders.

I'd rather have the choice, but seems silly giving another character that was part of this nasty bastsrd gang, like the worst people according to Marston in RDR, someone that can be pretty honourable when he does massively shitty things and is in a bang with massively shitty people.

Narratively it would be better if it gave you both sides of the coin. A campaign that played as a Pinkerton or what have you as well.

I wonder if this is going to chug on the base consoles? Especially the OG Xbox.

It always does with Rockstar- generally at 30fps for easy stuff and then down at 23/4/5 any time the action picks up.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey and this should make the bleak winter months a little brighter. Stunning looking game. The lighting in particular is outstanding

The game looks amazing but the idea of "looking after the camp" gives me flashbacks to the dullness of Sanctuary in Fallout 4.

Yeah looks like the kind of thing that will start being cool, but might get dull if you end up hearing those campsite stories repeating and such.

Landscapes look amazing but imo they still can't animate a face. It's not mass effect andromeda but it sticks out looking at how much effort they put in all the rest.

Those things better have realistic physics.

By the mid-1800's I imagine most cowboys rode geldings, so they shouldn't even have balls.

    /Pushes glasses up.

I guess everyone wants to ride a stallion at least once in their life.

That went gayer than I intended :o

So is the camp going to be like a mission hub too? If so that will alleviate the monotonous trudge to a icon that open worlds have bored us to death with for years.

The mobile phone in GTA4 and the character switching in 5 mitigated the drudgery somewhat but it was more a plaster than a cure.

It does look incredible, after the amount of time in the oven I'm looking it to be the next forward step for the genre.

I'm most intrigued by the interactions with others. I always felt that RDR was much more believable and interactive than GTA - likely because of the smaller scale.

we are pretty much at the plateau of where graphics can be, for a while at least, so the next step is using processing power and AI stuff to integrate believable mechanics into games. I want to walk into a town and people fear me.

cowboys have had a revival since RDR came out in 2010 - the remake of True Grit, Quentin's two Western movies - people now have different expectations of the genre and I would hope to see racism and other stuff covered.

It does look fantastic but I hope it also really fun to play. Playing Nintendo stuff again over the past year has reminded me how fun games should feel. I know Jive mentioned it but the collecting icons on increasingly larger maps is getting old.

I think with more limited gaming time, there is a place for quality over quantity with some of these open world games.

I'm a big fan of character customisation so I'm hoping there's lots of it. Judging by the gameplay it doesn't look like we'll be getting much if it though.

How did you manage to come to that daft conclusion, innit ?

Watching one minuscule gameplay feature which didnít highlight any customisation options, somehow means the ENTIRE game will be deprived of this feature?

I suggest maybe picking up some crayons when you next leave the house, as gaming seems to be a hobby that requires slightly more brain power than you possess.

    @Innit
RDR had loads of outfits to find, I would think this would be the same. As for full customisation RDRO with have a plethora of options no doubt.

He was a standoffish dickhead in his first iteration. Quite a sad existence to come back to a forum just to antagonize people.

@XtraCheese maybe because it showed multiple environments which we can assume take place at different points in the game and Arthur is wearing the same outfit. I didn't say the entire game, I said it "looks like" there will be limited customisation. You've extrapolated a point I never made just so you could insult me.

You've even annoyed The Milky Bar Kid, and he's a little boy that just wants to sell chocolate.

    Edit: you're shit.

I hope they've improved the animation for when you tie down a civilian to the train tracks, and the train runs them over.. it was just a puff of smoke and they're gone.

This is also my chief concern.
